Happy St. Patrick's Day!
"Sail away where no ball and chain Can keep us from the roarin' waves Together undivided but forever we'll be free! So sail away aboard our rig The moon is full and so are we We're seven drunken pirates We're the Seven Deadly Sins! So the years rolled by and several died And left us somewhat reelin' Johnny strummed his Tommy gun Left blastin' through the ceiling So what became of rebels Who sang for you and me? Grapplin' with their demons In the seach for liberty! Sufferers who suffer all Can swim upon the desert Where Avarice have ravaged all In spite of good intentions Don't fill your mouth with Gluttony For Pride will surely swell But nothing's unforgiven in the four corners of Hell! Sail away where no ball and chain Can keep us from the roarin' waves Together undivided but forever we'll be free! So sail away aboard our rig The moon is full and so are we We're seven drunken pirates We're the Seven Deadly Sins! We're seven drunken pirates We're the Seven Deadly Sins! Envy and its evil twin It crept in bed with Slander Idiots they gave advice But Sloth it gave no answer Anger kills the human soul With bitter tales of Lust While Pavlov's Dogs keep chewin' On the legs they never trust! Sail away where no ball and chain Can keep us from the roarin' waves Together undivided but forever we'll be free! So sail away aboard our rig The moon is full and so are we We're seven drunken pirates We're the Seven Deadly Sins We're seven drunken pirates We're the Seven Deadly Sins! But It's the only life we'll know Blaggards to the bone! So don't wreck yourself Take an honest grip For there's more tales beyond the shore! Ah the years rolled by and several died And left us somewhat reelin' In and out came crawlin' out And spewed upon the ceiling So what became of rebels That sang for you and me? Grapplin' with their demons In the seach for Liberty! Sail away where no ball and chain Can keep us from the roarin' waves Together undivided but forever we'll be free! So sail away aboard our rig The moon is full and so are we We're seven drunken pirates We're the Seven Deadly Sins! We're seven drunken pirates We're the Seven Deadly Sins!" "Oh the churchbells are ringin' in the school yard, And we all went out those days. The bully said "Mick, would you fancy a rumble?" I said 'Yes! Its time to play!' Oh the nuns and the priests they grabbed their Rosaries As they pulled our bodies apart. The bully said 'Mick you lost the fight but you've gained my respect, you fight with so much heart!' We're as stubborn as mules with our blood on fire When we ain't at Sunday mass, We'll look any man straight in his eyes and say, 'Kiss my Irish ass!' You'd better kiss my Irish ass! Oh the husbands and wives, they had a neighborhood pact, They called the Mackeys white trash behind our backs (White Trash!) I was way too young to understand that But if I did, I'd given it right back! Oh me dad, he'd be drunk on the lawn, Yelling and screaming like he do But sometimes my old man felt what he was feeling, Sometimes Mr. Mackey spoke the truth... We're as stubborn as mules With our blood on fire When we ain't at Sunday mass We'll look any man straight in his eyes and say 'Kiss my Irish ass!' You better kiss my Irish ass! Oh me grandpa passed through Ellis Island, From the greatest of the Motherlands For he worked, provided for his family He was a dedicated welding man! And he knew right from wrong like day and night, He could whip any fool in a bareknuckle fight He talked of country like he preached of God, One hell of an Irish man! We're as stubborn as mules With our blood on fire When we ain't at Sunday mass. We'll look any man straight in his eyes and say 'Kiss my Irish ass!' You better kiss my Irish ass! Oooohh, I'm of a distant relation to John Redman, He was one of the greatest Irish Rebels of his day. One bastard to another (Bastard!), on down the line And this is what my son will say: We're as stubborn as mules With our blood on fire When we ain't at Sunday mass We'll look any man straight in his eyes and say 'Kiss my Irish ass!' We're as stubborn as mules With our blood on fire When we ain't at Sunday mass We'll look any man straight in his eyes and say 'Kiss my Irish ass!' You better kiss my Irish ass!" Better late than never, I guess. And I know we don't have a lot to celebrate right now, but... eh. Have a pint and try and keep your spirits up.

Until somebody told me at work it was St. Patrick's Day I had no idea it was. Sure doesn't feel like it.

Pretty much everyone I've talked to completely forgot about it.
Nothing special today, just picked up a 6-pack of Guinness from the place across the street and listening to some'a the "classics". My wife swears all her friends on FB are in hysterics about the bars all being closed, but we have mostly different friends. Most everyone I talk to, including people I've been texting, are all like, "Sh*t, I completely forgot about it." F*ckin' virus. Ruining everybody's good time.

They passed out green hats, headbands, and party necklaces at work, but that was it. I had my green leggings with leprechauns and shamrocks, and a pair of socks with "I (heart) shenanigans", and a couple of pins, so i was prepared. Nobody seemed to remember it was St. Patty's day, otherwise.

Huh. . . you'd think people'd be looking for any excuse to get black out drunk.

Minds are elsewhere.

I did wear a green shirt on purpose, but otherwise I didn't give it much thought.

And on that note, I wonder if anyone is hoarding potatoes. And the actual fresh kind, not fries or chips.

I wore a green "kiss me I'm Irish" shirt to work, too, but since I have to wear a uniform while at work, few saw it.
Hmmm, could this be the next big potato famine? Hoarders holding them hostage while others starve over lack of fries and baked and loaded potatoes? Will we see whole crops disappear into the night, leaving hungry tater-lovers to lament on the lack of pot roast sides and diced stew ingredients?

Yeah, good luck with that. Potatoes may still be available, but good freaking luck finding the cheese, bacon, or sour cream! All the stores are bare in those departments.

I have a reason to remember St. Patrick's day since it is my younger sister's birthday. In honor of the holiday my parent's named her Patricia, had been a boy I she would have been named Patrick.

Patrick is my middle name, incidentally.
My mother's family surname was Mahoney, so yeah... pretty Irish.

St. Paddy's felt like another Tuesday to me. Otherwise, I don't have much to offer here.

Mine was/is McCann, also very Irish. Hubby's family also has Irish roots. We even named our daughter after a Celtic deity as a sign of her ancestry. (Okay, so Rhiannon is primarily a Welsh goddess, but the sentiment is there.)
