Official Episode Discussion: "Something Wicked"

Greetings one and all...!

It's been a couple years, but we've finally got some new shows to enjoy starring our favorite mutants! Let the Teasers Begin!!!

The beginning of this season has proven to be a bitter pill for some to swallow, while others have embraced the show and new plotlines...

We've seen the new Viral Shredder worm her way through our present day internet. We've seen our Mechanical Mr. Belvedere get sucked into the present with the Turtles and Splinter. Donatello's struggle to stop Viral resulting in the fragmentation of our favorite furry father. And many have resisted the collective urge to smack Mike upside his head for how he was last week. (But let's not get into that debate again...)

But at the end of last week's episode, We saw a glimmer of hope. Or maybe a pixel... through Donatello's frantic setup of technology (and enough electrical equipment to dim the entire eastern seaboard), the spinning CGI (Computer Ghost Image?) of our beloved Master Splinter made a desperate plea to his sons for his rescue.

Which brings us to this week!! Let us first turn to the sagely description provided by our higher powers (who actually get Paid for this stuff!)

"The turtles journey into cyberspace to save as much of Master Splinter as they can find."

Obviously... not your most elaborate description. Like, Not at All.

So they try to gather up their father's digi-bits before his bytes get overwritten by some 20-something that's downloading porn while living in his parents' basement.

What great technological wonders will Donatello whip out for this week?
- A fishnet
- A souped-up dust buster with a memory stick in the handle?
- Perhaps a Dyson vacuum with a REALLY fine Hepa filter? (Dealing with that fur's gonna be a disaster..)
- Or even a Ghostbuster style backpack with all sorts of plasma shooting amplifying thingamajiggers?

Who knows. Heck, Don could plug Splinter's info into Serling's body and put a lil screen on his chest for us to see Splinter's face on a screen. The question being: Where do you plug it in, and where does Splinter get shot out?

Talk about Awkward..

*starts to sing "Deep Inside of You..."*

Anyways... after a week of debate, it all comes down to those important questions:
WILL THEY BE ABLE TO LOCATE THEIR FATHER'S GHOST IN CYBERSPACE?!
WILL DONATELLO BE ABLE TO PUSH ASIDE HIS GUILT AND USE THIS TIME TO SHINE?!
HOW IS MASTER KHAAAAAAAAAAAAN GOING TO FACTOR INTO THIS?!
WHY ARE YOU USING ALL CAPS AGAIN, DAMMIT?!

You know what to do...

STAY TUNED!!!!!!

((To ANY Moderator who will be around Saturday Morning... Please Please Please open this for me. I will not be here to open it myself... Thank you in advance!!!))

Ok but not the best of the bunch so far

The intro wasn't as good as last weeks, and this episode seems a bit more childish than others but perhaps I'm the only one seeing this.
Can't honestly say I care for the cyber world stuff so far, I don't think that they will take it to it's fullest potential.
I do like how the turtles look in the cyber world though with the black skin and circuit lines on their bodies.
I think i enjoy how they look more before the got the cybernaught outfits, but I'm fine with it all the same.
I enjoy the back story of how Ch'rell's thoughts got saved on the Foots systems.
And I'd also like to point out that he said He took over Viral's body so it's pretty much still her but she's just possessed by this being.
I'm also guessing the last time they saved his minds thoughts was the time they cloned his body as he didn't know about all the stuff that happened on the rocket and being stuck on the asteroid.
Did anyone else roll their eyes or grumble at the racing part? That seriously had me going ugh, I also didn't expect Leo to join in I'd expect him go guys come on even before Don did.
That huge blast Cyber Shredder did while Donatello was saving Splinters parts was amazing!
I seriously didn't expect such a blast, it's like he's got Viral's powers now plus his own.
I seriously have to say I'm very tired of Mikey being the butt of every joke, let something dumb happen to another turtles already, like oh maybe Leo.
I thought this episode was pretty ok not the best but not the worst, I'm impressed by Cyber Shredder so far and I'm interested enough in it all to keep watching.
I just sort of felt this episode to be a bit of a waste as I felt more should have been going on, I think I'm afraid that they are going to rush things with so few episodes left.
This episode also felt even more Fast Forward than Fast Forward did to me lol
And this brings me to my major gripe, this 13 episode season is waaaaaaaaaaaaay to short for all of the things going on.

Great episode! While I like the turtles in the real world better, the cyber world wasn't too bad. I hope in the future that Cyber Shredder will turn an area of the internet into a Foot HQ and create some Cyber Foot Ninja.

So, the 'mystery' behind Cyber Shredder is finally revelaed.
Spoiler:
He's a cyber clone of utrom Shredder!

I've loved this series so far, but didn't really care for this episode! I only caught the second half of the episode, but the entire second half was basically a fight with the Shredder. And it wasn't even a very cool fight. I'm not feeling their "cyber-powers". It seems very gimmicky to me. I hope they stay in the real world more throughout the rest of the episodes. It seems like Shredder may try to come into the real world.

Still, I'll have to check out the first half of this episode later.

made his arm appear out of the floor.
as well as when
Spoiler:
Leo cut Shredder in half.

Do I even need spoiler tags here?

I really couldn't stand this episode. Leo barely had any lines and wasn't much of a leader. He just stood there while Don was ranting.

Also, if Karai did help the Utom Shreeder...er..clone himself in the virtual world, why the hell didn't she try to resurrect him a few years ago?? What the (*&() are the writters thinking???

Hmmm.... good point. That's a major flaw in the story.

Not a bad episode. I liked it better than last week. The Cyber Clone Shredder is pretty good, but it kind of makes me . I'd like him a lot more if not for many incarnations of Shredder. Seriously, the dude is like a circus act.
Come one Come ALL. See the many faces of the SHREDDER!
He is an Utrom, He's his daughter, He's a Demon, He's a cloned-viral cyber thingy!
Don't miss the NEXT Shredder who is made from the nightmares of little kids and attacks them in their Dreams!

Mike didn't get on my nerves as much. But I can say that the racing thing annoyed me.

Don: Ok, we're here to rescue Splinter.
Leo, Mike, Raph: Ohhh! NASCAR TIME! Splinter? Splinter who? We've got CARS to play with! You go get'em Don. We'll see you when we're done playing.

The battle with Cyber Shredder was good. BIG explosions. lotsa Lightning and I counted about four or five Mikey girly screams. Seriously, hasn't he hit puberty yet? Voice change and all that? The whole Cyber world tho seems a BIG Matrix knock-off. I'm just waiting for Mike to say "There is no spoon." Or for RAph to say "we need guns. Lot of guns."

Ohh look! We got SPlinter's FEET! When they found him last week, I had hopes that it wasn't going to be 13 episodes of jigsaw-sensei. Hopes were dashed. It'll be 13 episodes of piecing him together. OR rather maybe 6 episodes of piecing him together and the remaining 7 will be "Don searches while the others go about doing their own thing."

The best thing about this story line has been Don. He's not angsting like season 4 Leo, but he is very narrowly focused on getting Splinter back. And this focus is leading him to be a be a bit reckless. Reckless Don has awesome potential.

Maybe she did try, and failed? Who knows...or maybe she has ADD and had too much on her mind at the moment to even think about the cloned guy. Maybe when she sees him now she'll smack her forehead and say "Stupid! stupid! stupid!"

Or, maybe there's a reason she didn't resurrect him? Perhaps she liked being in charge for a change.

"Think like a Cybernought"

If they never say that again, I will be a happy man.

Otherwise, pretty good episode. With all the new gear, I would say this episode was a 30 min. commercial. However, with no toys as of yet, this seems like wasted time that could be used for, you know, good stuff. I do like the new gear, though. Cool weapons. I could watch Leo draw his swords again and again. I also like the Light Cycle-ish tail on Raph when he does a jump kick. The account program made me laguh as I'm currently taking an accounting class and was using a online program last night.

I agree with VaughnMichael, 13 episodes just ain't long enough. I think this is the core reason why some don't like Season 5. It ain't long enough to let everything settle in.

You should see the first half, it was pretty entertaining for a set-up episode.

I love the more focus on Don this season, its about time. Otherwise yeah, it was a fairly standard episode that was entertaining but nothing too amazing.

Cyberspace was ok to visit one time, but I hope we don't spend that many more eps here.

this was a decent episode, even though it was in cyber space I thought that the action in it was an improvemnt over all from last weeks episode. I'm liking Donatello's determination and near susicidal lengths to get Splinter back no matter what. He said father at least three times in this one episode. And you can tell that that he hasn't gotten much sleep since he's looks pretty weary and he was rubbing his eyes alot, I laughed when he went up to Leo and tried to wake him up and Leo let out a this comical yelp of suprise. LOL Don seemed abit more grounded in this episode, but you can still tell that guilt is eating him alive, but now that he has something to work toward to get Splinter back he's more focused on that than torturing him self and being down.

But he seems to have lost some of his discretion, in his zeal to get in there and get Splinter back I feel that he is not considering every thing, sure he seemed like he thought of every thing with the wrist thingies and vehicles and weapons and armor and fire wall escape place, but I wonder if he's not being too ruthless. He's so driven on capturing Splinter that I don't think he's really reacting properly to the dangers to his brothers. He seemed a bit too blase about Mikey almost getting decompiled himself. I know that Don wants to get Splinter back at all costs but one of your brothers almost suffered his same fate, and instead of regrouping he wanted to jump right back in there. I understand where Don is coming from but don't foget about every thing.

Did any one notice that Mikey seemed to be in constant danger in this episode? To being nearly being decompiled by Shredder to being badly nocked out during the last few minutes of their fight? And he seemed to the one stuggling the most during the fights in this one.

And I actually did like the weapons and and gear the turtles where sporting in this episode, although I'm not sold on the color coordination of each turtle. I know there done so you can tell them apart, but I think their suits would have looked cooler with out the gaudy coloring. And how can I forget Cyber Shredder, it seems it is actually him, or at least a down loading version of him. So it would appear he has complete control and Viral's essence is no more. I liked his explainion on how he had a vault of his memories and and personality in the internet and the small cameo of Che'rell and Karai in her 2k3 form. But did any one notice that one shot was of Karai in her 2k3 form and one was a breif side shot of her in her BTTS design? In any case I'm glad he is back and his design is really cool. I think the fighting in the cyber world is going to be interesting, since the normal laws of physics don't apply and they can meld with their surrounding to fight. That was a nice touch, and there was some good creativity with the fighting, I really liked when Shredder shot his arm into the ground and it came up infront of Raph and grabbed his throat.

Points go to Raph for figuring out the way to fight in the most sufficent way in cyber world. I thought for sure it was going to be Leo but he seemed to take a slight back seat in this episode. Some of the scenes during the fights kind of reminded me of the 5th season when they had their chi powers. Don really stole the show in this episode and he seems to be acting more the leader right now. I do like that he seems less snappy with his brothers and some of their old rapport has returned; so it's all good. And for all the fans bitching about how the turtles have pupils and how anime like they look now, I hope seeing them in cyber space with out the pupils satisfy's you. This is a new take on the series being in cyber world, but I think plot and drama is still there and the character developement for Don just sweetens it all the more. I hope every will give the cyber episodes a chance before bashing it because it seems to much like FF. For all the flashy gimmicks in this episode, it was pretty solid. I enjoyed it.

I liked the episode personally... Still feels more like seasons 1-5 then season 6.

I knew that Cyber Shredder would be Chrell in some form.

The fight scene was much more elaborate, and now we just need some good fight scenes outside of cyberspace.

Good episode, but I don't want to see them in Cyberspace more then the real world, facing issues.

The way the show is going and presenting itself, it would be a godsend to get 26 episodes next season.

Where's the love 4Kids?

As a writer I can say that every major flaw in a story can be covered up.

Who's to say the writers don't read this forum, and write in a scene to explain it, thanks to you mentioning it, only to come and say we had that idea all along?

You know I once met a guy who sued Fox for using the idea of a man trying to track down a toy for his son, and getting into a competition with a Mailman? He got a lot of money, but in Hollywood, everything can be copied and misconstrued for personal gain.

Not saying that is the case, but what I am saying is, writers are always prepared for any moment they may slip up, unless it's too late.

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman wrote in Shia Leboufs hand injury into the new Transformers movie. It was that easy.

If there isn't an explanation by the end of this season as to why she was so mad when he had copies, then they weren't prepared. I assume they will be however.

Come on now... we knew there was bound to be an episode like this in the first 4 episodes of the new season. I agree... 13 episodes is a bit short, but at least they didn't think they're be 26, and only produce 13, leaving things open ended.

So, it's been explained. the Shredder data was a copy of Che'rell's cyber suit and personality. And it took over Viral completely. That, of course was one of two theories I had. The other being she only dons the helmet and usurps the name to freak the turtles out.

The cyberstuff isn't bad so far... still seems like they're also fighting The Hacker or Mother Brain or something... and I gotta admit, the potential for some cool toys is there... but seems like we'll have to suffer through the Music themed turtles, the fire Fighter turtles and something to be named later where they're all dressed up like Pilgrims or in Banana suits or something....

I just hope this is a recurring theme, not a major focus.

It was only a decent episode, my least favorite of the season so far. The cyber world stuff has potential, but I hope they don't go there every episode. I'm sure we'll see some time-lapses wherein they've gathered more of Splinter.

I think the problem with this episode is that nothing really happened. It was basically one long fight scene, which is cool, except the fight itself was't particularly well done. Oh well.

Oh, and continued use of the earlier style in flashbacks continues to throw me.

Meh. Was okay, but I hope the other eps are less -worthy. How many times did they have to restate the "think like a cybernaut" line? Three? If it's weak the first time, repeating it will only annoy people. I agree that the cyber-world is rather gimmicy and (I think) boring, but I can only hope that this was the worst out of 13.
