Playmates Vintage Remastered

I didn't see a thread started yet, but this photo was shared on Instagram.
Can anyone confirm this is legit?

This is the second smart decision out of Playmates this year. I hope this is a full line that expands to other characters.

That is hysterical! Talk about beating Super7 at their own game and likely at 1/3 the price point....
They are basically MOTU Oing the Playmates TMNT.

Funny thing in Pixel Dan's Street Sharks video he said he wanted classic turtles with new articulation yesterday

I spot the classic collection figure weapons being reused.

I like the First Turtle figures a lot more than I thought I would...but what the HECK!!! I’m so sick of store exclusives. I don’t live near a Target.

They’ve gotten all the Sonic Prime figures and now this.

I know you can just order online but it’s still annoying. What’s even the point? The majority of people have both Wal-Mart and Target. I’m just in the minority.

No joke, this is my dream figure. I always prefer the 5 inch scale for TMNT so I'm genuinely more excited for this than anything NECA and Super7 can offer.

EDIT: On a second look, that looks like the Classic Collection weapon so it's probably going to be on that weird Playmate's scale that claimed to be 6 inch but was actually bigger than NECA's 7 inch scale figures.

FINALLY. I thought Super7 was going to fulfill this dream but they're too dumb to pull it off. Here's hoping Playmates can figure out. Honestly... not too optimistic given the last few decades but we'll see. If these aren't the actual vintage scale then that's already a rough start. It looks like they also have bases which means they 1) are going to be more expensive and 2) might just be one-offs with nothing further planned.

I'm still excited either way and I reeeeally hope this pans out. MOTU Origins has been my favorite line to collect ever since it came out (and MOTU isn't even in my top 5 IPs).

Good catch! They actually look better with that scale.

Dang, it seems like Playmates has a more legitimate reason for blockading Super7's use of their old designs. I have mixed feelings about this. They'll certainly be cheaper than Super7's offerings, no doubt, but I hate store exclusives, and Playmates has absolutely no sense of scale whatsoever, so if they end up doing more figures than just the brothers, you can be sure that they'll tower over Shredder and other characters that are supposed to be taller than the turtles.

This does have me a bit worried. Since I already have the S7 Ultimates, I dunno if I'd have much incentive to get these if they're that same size. But if they're actually smaller, I think I'd be more inclined. So, whether or not I get these will largely (no pun intended) depend on their size.

Also... did anyone else notice that Leonardo and Donatello have their heads switched with one another? I wonder if that'll be fixed for release or if that's how they'll come out.

I don't collect Vintage, but if they expand the "Origins" universe with say characters like Rasputin, Alopex, or Karai/Lotus, I might have to reconsider.

While the Origins line is a cash cow, I actually prefer the MOTU "cartoon" line as the proportions are improved (not perfectly, waist is still weird) over the Origins/Vintage (personal preference of mine with prioritizing toon fidelity) but not quite at Filmation level. Nevertheless, the selection is better than Filmation (Filmation line ended prematurely).

Those seem to be swivels on the ankles, not ankle tilts.

Definitely a deal-breaker for me if they're just swivels.

Looks to me like every figure comes with a rooftop piece that assembles to make that display too....

I’m surprised Raph isn’t whitish lime like the reissues have been.

I'm certainly very interested in getting them, though I'd like a closer look. I am wondering just how their articulation upgrades compare to MotU Origins. Even if they don't quite stand up, it still looks like they are probably worth getting.
