1991 Lenticular Shredder/Super Shredder Mini Card
Today, I was cleaning out my parents' garage and found some old TMNT cards and such. Most of them are the miniature cards that came with Playmates toys, but this one oddball has me stumped. It is the size you would expect a Cracker Jacks prize to be. Is this thing rare or am I crazy? I'd love to know where it's from.
The front has one shot of cartoon Shredder holding a can of ooze and it says "OOOOOZE"....tilting the card changes the image into a closeup shot of Super Shredder. The back says "COLLECT ALL 24!" It is dated 1991 Mirage Studios. Here are some photos: I'm always leery of posting anything on here as I don't want to break any rules. If I have, please let me know so I don't do it again! |

You're not breaking any rules. Though you could have better luck in the "Name That Toy! The TMNT Figure ID Thread" at the top of the forum.

I just realized I didn't actually respond to the question of what they are. As far as I know, they are not related to or from any of the toys. (All of that stuff had Playmates' copyright on it.) I think they were a promotion with one of the food tie-ins, specifically I think they came with the Hostess cream pies.

Thanks for the response! Funny thing -- the one TMNT product I know a lot about is the Hostess Pudding Pie. I'm actually creating a blog right now about them where I interviewed the Hostess employee who developed them.
That said, I can confirm that there weren't a set of 24 cards (or mini lenticulars) available through the Hostess pies, but I appreciate the input! |

It's awesome to see 12 of them and the creativity used to design the 2 different images on each card! |

It's been a while since I asked this question about the "mini lenticular cards," but I wanted to do my part to spread some incredibly rare knowledge I've acquired.
I missed this display on eBay last week, but it answers my initial question. The cards were actually called "Turtle Movie Action Flickers" and were given out in gumball/candy machines. There were indeed only 12 total cards, with each card having 2 images (so they counted that as 24 total). Here's the photo of the display. Really disappointed that I missed this thing as there is ZERO record of these Turtle Movie Action Flickers anywhere on the interwebs. It's crazy how we can still uncover new information 25+ years after the fact. These were released in 1991. |

Is there an interest in these cards?
Because I have two sets that could use a new home.

Haha, so... I recently ended up with a few pounds of these little cards, and they are micro cool!
If anybody wants a complete set of the 12 cards (featuring 24 characters), I'm happy to mail 'em to you for cheap! Just PM me for details.

Whoa!!! I had the Leatherhead/Casey lenticular when I was a kid. My grandma gave me the coins to buy it from a gumball machine located by the front of a Chinese restaurant. I was only allowed to buy one and the next time we went back to that restaurant, they were all gone so I never got a chance to expand the collection.
Also, I thought they were stickers and I ripped the backing off about a quarter of the way down before I realized it wasn't a sticker and I was wrecking it. I white glued it back together with elmers school glue and kept it as one of my most prized possessions in a treasure box that I had as a kid. Ah, the memories. |
