Jem and The Holograms

Anyone else a fan of this strange(even for the 80's) animated series?

Any favorite music videos from the series?

I was there for it. But it came out when I was at an age where I would've rejected it as "a girls show". I respect it as a property though. It did it's thing and was an interesting idea amidst the excess of the 80's, for those of us who were there to understand it.

Quite liked it when I was a kid. I watched a great deal of 'girls shows' in the day like Jem, Maxies' World, and Starla.

I know I watched it but aside from "hot chicks" I don't remember much at all.

I remember I was watching the crap out of it for like a month or two as a kid and then I never saw it again, ever.

True the series has "hot chicks" though it was hardly the only 80's cartoon that had that. Also had great music. Lets not forget it was one few 80's cartoons with character development especially most of the main antagonists.

Yes, it's one of my favourite 80s cartoons
as for favourite music videos probably Universal Appeal, Making Mischief and Welcome to the Jungle from the Misfits, and well there's a lot of music videos from Jem that I like but I especially enjoy "it all depends on the mood I'm in", "she's got the power" "something is missing" and "Nightmare".

I liked Maxie's world aswell but not as much as Jem, it was alright

I also liked "Universal Appeal" as well as "A Father Should Be", "Who is He Kissing", "Bad Influence", "Come On, The Water Is Fine", "Dear Diary", etc.

I would love a blu ray release for this one but I doubt that will ever happen since most(if not all) 80's cartoons don't have film stock to make a proper HD transfer.

I was still in the 'girls are icky' stage and the whole' wouldn't be caught dead watching a girls' cartoon' mindset.

Maybe if I was a year or so older I would have least have checked it out for the sake of checking out the girls.

I did like the way Jem looked especially first make-up version. Kimber was second best looking but very fickle in relationships.

As for the Misfits, I always thought Stormer was the best looking one.

For an 80's cartoon, I think Jem was a pretty solid product. On the other hand, while I've never seen it in its entirety, I recall the live movie did historically bad at the box office.

As most live action movies based on cartoons do, specially in this day and age. Nothing can ever top the original, yet companies like Disney insist on ruining what once was by making utterly craptastic live action remakes. Next up apparently for them is LA remake of “How to Train Your Dragon” ffs Disney enough already, end of rant lol

I would prefer we all forget about the live action movie and just remember the show.
