This looks awesome!!! I'm looking forward to it. I really enjoyed Eastmans Annual, it was a real treat because I thought he was done with TMNT forever once be bought Heavy Metal. I'm glad to see him still doing a comic once in awhile.
The ultimate (which I doubt would happen) is a Laird/Eastman one-shot story. Who knows maybe someday? ....... Probably not. Till then I will look forward to this issue. IDW rules and this is the best TMNT series EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER................ screw Cowabunga, I say Booyakasha!!!!!!! |

I do believe this mutant-like masked ninja is with the Savante ninjas. The use of french language is a clue to that. That is a clue and Bobby said something of clues just now being dropped for something circa #34/#35. As for the montage, I can see a trainning sequence happing in a page length and it could cover several hours with Eye of the Tiger, or the silly and simply named Trainning Montage playing on our iPods or better eye Shredder's Suite. Anyway, I do feel something like The Guardians and Ninja Tribunal is out there evaluating the turtles to train for something. Is it the savante group? Btw villian6,Cowabunga says it all!

Hopefully not a cybernetic fly. The Baxterbot in Mirage had a very intimidating look to it, though.

Wow, I've never been too much of a fan of Eastman's turtles, but this looks 300% better than last years annual. I'm suddenly pretty stoked to read this next week.

I really like seeing Kevin's artwork with Ronda Pattison's colors and this is no exception. It looks much better than the annual even if the annual still looked good.
I have no idea who the masked person is but I seriously doubt it's Splinter. And as other people have pointed out, he might be connected to the savante ninja because of him using a french word. But I am very much looking forward to reading this. Also, about Baxter mutating. A part of me doesn't want him to mutate and a part of me totally want him to turn into a giant fly.

I wouldn't mind him turning into a robot or a fly later, but for me it would be better if they would keep him normal human for a while. I mean like 20-25 issues at least.
The fly transformation could be interesting, since IDW has a lot more serious tone then the '87 cartoon had, it would be interesting if they would turn him into a horrendeous creature like originally in the movie 'The Fly'. (where the inspiration came from) Spoiler:

I guess not, but I didn't see the ending coming at all. I was actually pretty upset about it until I saw the ending.....

I really, really hate saying this, because every issue of this comic has really been awesome up until now, but this issue was a huge disappointment for me. the ending was boring and predicable, and as I feared, one we saw the turtles go through elsewhere recently.

Yeah seems most people had been right about who it was.

Here's my review of TMNT #21 at TMNT Entity.
Kevin Eastman's art is always a treat and seeing Pattison's colors applied was a wonderful bonus. But the story... hrm. The big reveal was plainly telegraphed from the start and the issue-long fight was repetitive to the brink of tedium. I get the message of the issue and it certainly feels like we're at the boiling point of the "City Fall" arc, but the execution was sort of... boring. Sorry to be a Negative Nancy on this one. Enjoyed the art and the colors and the jist of it all, just not so much the story. |

As usual I'm with Spengs on this.
Kevins art is a treat for the eyes but it seems the content of his issues thus far have been lackluster.

Issue 21's story just leaped to my favorite issue in this series by far! Art was amazing and the story had me guessing till the end.
WELL DONE to all those involved! Best yet and more awesome is sure to come! |

Fun issue. I loved the art! So good to see Kevin's work again. The coloring work was great too.
