Perhaps they heard that a lot of us like the TMNT to be gritty and they took it too literally. It looks like they applied actual grit to them and left the poor guys with some pretty rough skin.

Now I kinda can see the rough skin texture in the initial blurry pics that came out, didn't notice before. Looks similar to the texture of vintage Genghis Frog and Mondo Gecko. They should have let Don keep his badass 1988 facial expression and just fixed Leo's eyes. I actually modified the eyes on a spare Leo figure I had.

Has anyone else ever noticed how the belt straps for Leo and Don cross up high at the neck, just like the vintage figures, but I always thought there should be some yellow still visible above the X but the straps just naturally drape up high around the neck. I always like to adjust it a little, so it doesn't cross so high up, kinda hard to explain here's a pic what I mean:

But yeah they should of let all them keep their '88 facial expressions and just slightly tweaked Leo's eyes. Alot of things could of been done differently on this set but who knows, maybe those aren't the final versions.

Mad Hatter's newest video on the subject is great, haha.

cracks me up because it's true, and nobody seems to really call out these dumb design ideas.

I wonder if it's too late to remove those bumps from the molds.
