Is that for real?
Could we finally get another attempt that doesn't flop?
Edit, just gone and taken a look at Robocop Archvie site... they're talking about but of course don't know more than the article..

Weller is in his 70's now isn't he? He did say he would do it again at a panel but it depends when they want to set it I guess.

It'd presumably be a Blade Runner 2049 kind of a thing. RoboCop: 30 Years Later, Weller as an obsolete model lawman. So many possibilities within that.

Yeah, I can see that.
It would be interesting to see evolution of ideas and designs from original trilogy.
I just really hope that they find competent producers, who won't mess with the movie.

They'll have to come up with a reason as to why he has a gut now, but I'll watch this the second it comes out. Old Robocop is what I was dreaming of while watching the remake. The whole time I kept thinking, why can't they do a Rocky Balboa style Robocop movie?

If they go that route, the movie would be about a new Robocop looking for answers, and searching for the original Robocop to find out what has happened in the past.

Or they built a newer model that's more advance, and the original Robocop has to proof that he isn't obsolete, and can still do things better then the newer one.

On note about Weller, I don't think they will put him into the suit - the original suits were extremely uncomfortable and heavy, and he is an old man now.
Most likely they will do some superimposing of his face onto double or something.

You might be right, then again... #1. If they're going to do this, they're probably going to go at it old-school. #2. Hollywood has had 30 years since Robocop to make suits like that less grueling to be in.

Yeah - they can paint foam to look like metal these days.

CGI route would have been easier.
But we'll see, if this idea materialize into anything of substance.

It's a bit the opposite of something like Ninja Turtles, though... where the rise of mo-cap suits and CGI allows for more movement and freedom and such... Robocop? He doesn't need any of that. He's supposed to be this lumbering hulk of a thing, clomping about.

It was a good suit but yes a nightmare to wear, they could get away without GCI if they wanted to keep his movements the same/similar, I suppose it depends what they want to do. Hopefully still very close to the design whatever they do.

Apparently they reused suits made for Peter Weller on Robocop 3 because Orion was nearly broke. Robert Burke was cast in part because he would more or less fit in the costume. They had to hack it a bit, and apparently he had a miserable time wearing it.

Yeah they used the suit from R2 due to funding, this was a lighter weight than the one in the first movie but Burke said that by the time they had finished adjusting it to fit him it was quite heavy.

Hopefully this goes ahead, with the right story and hopefully a good enough budget they can do something better than some of things we've gotten so far...trying not to get too excited until something is confirmed though.
