A coindence regarding Splinter being a parent?

OK so Splinter aka Yoshi Hamato is a father in the new cartoon, however i went to wikipedia and found that in the first NES game, April is Splinter's child, and it's not some fan's prank, the official famicom "Geki Kame Ninja Den" book states that April is his dauther (it got "Musume" (dauther) in kanji)

Now does Nick liked that idea, or it's a coindence? Or maybe Splinter will adopt April too?

Wikipedia isn't the most trust worthy of sources. And even if it is true that April is Splinter's daughter in that NES game, that is a mistake on the designers part.

Splinter and April have always had a father and daughter like relationship in most incarnations. And in this version they sort of use each other in surrogate versions of roles of a father and daughter.

While April's father was in captivity, she emotionally turned to Splinter as a father figure in her life. And even with her father returned to her...(not counting the moments he was mutated, and kraangified) she has continued to think of Splinter as a second father and was just as devastated as the turtles to witness his demise.

Splinter on the other hand has emotionally adopted April as his daughter. He knows she can never replace Miwa, but April does give him an idealized view of what Miwa could have been like if she had lived (with him).

Musume does not only mean 'daughter' but also 'girl', so the term would be used in the latter context. She was not his daughter.

Sorry for necropost, but someone claims that even April calls him Father

I checked the longplay of "Geki kame ninja den" on YT (becuase i don't have a console to play my copy of this game) and i saw two times that April calls Splinter her father (as Otousama)

The first being before Level 3 starts and later during the ending

That's proper etiquette in Japan, to refer to your close peers' immediate relatives by the terms of their familial role. So again, no, she is not his daughter.

Yeah, this is true. My friends are married....he's Japanese and she's American. His family treats me like family, and my friend's mother acts like a mother to me. I call her "Miyuki-mama". She insists. lol
