Disney just gets craftier and craftier.
I mean here they went and just created several hundred years worth of racial tension and gender norms just in case the restarting of a franchise didn't pan out the way they had expected.

I got to give it to the mouse, that is some A+ damage control prep.

or maybe the alternative conclusion is that fandom communities don't police their own enough, which allows those from outside the community to love everyone within it together.

and that this sort of thing should be a call to Arms were people from within the community who don't share racist and sexist beliefs to be outspoken within the community regarding those issues.

But nah, it's probably the first one.

Doubling down on the narrative only hurt Disney Star Wars reputation, I wonder if they'll Triple Down on it. It'll be interesting to see where they take Episode IX. There's too much money riding on for Disney to let an agenda bury their big purchase. We won't have to wait long to see since it'll come out next year so we'll start seeing stuff in just a few months. A part of me doesn't care since they're just milking it too much but another part still wants Star Wars to be rescued.

Obviously the sequel trilogy is too damaged at this point for it to turn things around, the most they can hope for is not to piss too many people off. But it could set the direction of where they take SWs.

I mean, it's great casting...

Didn't help Episode VIII any, though. They had Mark F'ing Hamill.

I wonder what type of role will Matt Smith be playing. a First Order Officer or a member of the Resistance?

Dunno, but I'll bet my entire 11th Doctor run of DVDs that he'll be wasted.

He can't possibly be underutilized as much as he was in Terminator: Genisys.

This is true. I'd forgotten about that... know what's even better? That was my favorite part of Genisys.

Thoughts on Luke's involvement? I said before I will accept all the crap of Rian Johnson IF Luke lives to the climax of Episode 9, but there is lingering doubt the force junkie shook off the overdose.

Is that trustworthy news for a start?

As for ideas, if this is the case, he didn't die but went onto another plane of existence and then manages to come back..... in a better mood?

Its just a rumor. I did not mean to take it as THE WORD but as a grain of salt and thought it could spark speculation on how exactly Luke will be involved. I just feel since Carrie cannot be the centerpiece of Episode 9 that Luke be granted a life beyond episode 8 as in physical not force ghost.

As much as I'd want to see Luke survive Episode 8... it would only be to then get a "real death" in 9. Unless Hamill promises to stay alive until it's time for episode 10... in that case, he can die in that.

Yeah, I would be a little more interested in the movie if this were the case and done well... course there is Andrew's point of then having him die again in this one …. depends how they'd do it. We know he is supporting cast this time but he can have a little spotlight without being a main character throughout.

Sounds like they did a lot of improve. Normally they stick to the scripts for these movies. We all heard how badly it went down during the making of Solo. Perhaps they learned from those mistakes?

God, no. Improv is terrible.

I think they've been having a little too much "fun" already. Time to get back to actually telling stories the audience wants. and quit jacking each other off for how "clever" they are.

Jerking the blue space milk outta that cow udder. A perfect visual metaphor for the Star Wars franchise at this point.

Something nasty squeezed out of a massive creature by somebody who should know better. And we pretend it tastes glorious.
