Bumping this since Spider-Man has had his own film in the MCU now
I haven't seen any of the Tobey Maguire films in ages, but I did catch Amazing Spider-Man 2 on TV over the holidays. Here's how I'd rank them as of now: 1. Spider-Man (2002) 2. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) 3. Spider-Man 2 (2004) 4. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) 5. Spider-Man 3* (2007) 6. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) *I would have ranked SM3 higher if they hadn't shoehorned in Eddie Brock/Venom (especially as it's the miscast Topher Grace). I could have lived with the symbiote being introduced but they should have left its storyline with Peter abandoning it and then leaving Venom for the next movie (which I know was the plan until the studio allegedly pushed for Venom's inclusion in the film). Oh well, c'est la vie.

Spiderman 3 is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. It's a "so bad it's good" kind of mentality. I recognize Spiderman 3 is a poor movie in a lot of respects, but damn if it isn't unintentionally hilarious. It almost feels like a parody at some points.

I feel the exact same way. I recognize that Spider-Man 2 is a more well-crafted film but I'd rather rewatch Spider-Man 3 due to its sheer absurdity

Spider-Man
Spider-Man 2 Spider-Man 3* Spider-Man: Homecoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Amazing Spider-Man *I have alot of love for Spider-Man 3. Far from a perfect movie of course but I liked alot of what they were going for. I love Peter's arc in the movie. More than the other two. Fame has gone to his head but he's too blind to see it. Constantly making self centered decisions that hurt the ones around him as he slowly comes to grips that he might be the problem. It's one of the most humbling arcs of the series. I love Harry's arc finally reaching it's end, reuniting with his best friend and forgiving him. Even fighting alongside him (which was exciting in a pre-Avengers world.) I love being in theatre and hearing the whole theatre audibly GASP when he elbows Mary Jane in the bar. I love The Sandman's storyline, which is generally regarded as one of the best handled things in the movie. I love Emo Peter. Look, in a strange way it kinda makes sense. Peter is acting what he sees as cool. What a geek would see as cool, not necassarily what is cool. So when he's swaggering down the street, leaning in and whispering "Find us some shaaaaade..." to the hostess, basically acting like a total tool - he thinks he's the coolest guy in the room. But to everyone else, he's, well, a moron. I dug it. I loved the parallels between Brock and Peter throughout the film. They both want the staff job at the Bugle, they're both planning to get engaged, they're both struggling with crossing moral boundries to get what they want to succeed... Sure, it's no the Eddie Brock we know from the comics but what here's good stuff. I love how the series ended up concluding with a nice, cathardic hug between MJ and Peter. There's things I absolutely hate about it, though. I hate that he could just take off his costume/symbiote whenever he wanted. I hate how they retconned Uncle Ben's death, removing Peter from the blame. That's kind of the whole point of Spider-Man's origins I hate how Harry conveniently has a case of amnesia to sideline him for the bulk of the story to make room for Venom and Sandman. |

Of the ones I've seen...
Spider-Man: Homecoming Spider-Man Spider-Man 3 Spider-Man 2 Yeah. I know. But I was never enamored with SM2 the way everyone else was. That entire movie hinges on Peter Parker and Mary Jane, which is a problem because Dunst and Maguire have negative chemistry and feel wooden together. Alfred Molina was great, though. I skipped the Amazing movies.

1. Spider-man 2
2. Spider-man 3. Spider-man Homecoming 4. The Amazing Spider-man 5. Spider-man 3 6. The Amazing Spider-man 2 The Tobey Maguire ones are still my favorites. Although flawed, they really had the feel of the comics. The villains, at least in the first two films, were cast perfectly. The best Parker goes to Tom Holland, but Homecoming felt like it was trying too hard to be part of the Avengers universe rather than be a Spider-man film. The Amazing Spider-man 2 was the most bored I've ever been at a Spider-man movie. |

Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man Spider-Man 3 ASM 1 and 2 Homecoming However, I am of the opinion that the Spectacular Spider-Man animated series is better than any of the movies.
