It does feel like stuff we've seen multiple times before, which might be why there's not a lot of excitement in it.
And, in spite of Krang is disinterested being the Triceratons as individuals, there hasn't really been anything to suggest that they are actually treated badly outside of being cannon fodder. When there are big ol' muscle blocks moving around your society, and you're a blob, you have to show some respect, regardless of if your people made the other or not.
