I'm hyped, but I wish they'd make a horror fighting game as well because I have a feeling we'll get those characters as DLC like every other game has in the past.

So now they're going to be fighting their past selves? I'm kind of ok since the MK reboot had already screwed up the timeline anyhow so why not go crazy.

Well Deadly Alliance started with the subtitles but still had a prominent V hidden in the cover. After that the fandom/Ed Boon has still referred to the sequels as numbered entries even when they don't have them in the games. MKX is the tenth game (since it counts MKvDC as 8 but for some reason Trilogy isn't). I'm sure this won't be called XI once it comes out tho.

Trilogy is an update for MK3, so it doesn't count as separate game.

MKvsDC had started development as MK8, before being converted to crossover. And for some reason developers still refer to it as eighth installment in the series.
