3D Printing TMNT Adventures

Thought it would be best to have a dedicated tmnt thread this time around...now that it looks like I may have FINALLY worked out the bugs on the 3D Printer.

Having a Makergear, I have definetly run into all these issues within the first month as a part of the learning curve. most recent issue was changing the hot end and getting it bed level. but thankfully, it seems to be working now.

So far, we've printed an 8 inch tall Technodrome, that is show accurate.
This took 5 days to print and took two spools of white PLA.
It's insanley annoying to remove support material, as you have to be very careful not to break stuff.

1995 Highschool clay drome. Shapeways Drome. Makergear drome Try1

second proper print was Leonardo. I already made some changes to his basic pose, and some of the parts that didn't print so great, so hopefully they will turn out better, which is printing right now in try 2. I also made him solid to the base, so he won't break apart this time around...

I also have the option to print metal infused PLA.

So, what would you like to see tried next?

I remember a while back someone did a thread here where they had done FW stuff in 3D printing. The guy was colour blind so didn't paint the right colours on the Leo figure but the stuff come out great anyway. Are you the same person or just trying the whole 3D printing process yourself?

it's the same. i was hoping it'd get more traction in the main forums. anything below tends to get lost after a while......

yikes, I never thought of the ecological impact that all the left over from people using 3D printers wrong was going to cause.

it certainly makes a mess of my trash can with all the messed up kapton tape and false start stringy messes that happen. ugh. I'm begining to hate orange tape and air bubbles.

On the good side, Leo 2.0 has been printing for a full day now and hasn't run into any issues. it's just finished printing the base and should be halfway through Leo this time tommorow and finished this time thursday night if all goes well.

maybe I'll try April next.

A METAL Channel 6 Building might look cool. but not sure how I would do it. The windows with the indents might be tough to do.

Leo 2.0 actually turned out ok. he's attached to the base this time. still lost his bandana tags in the cleanup though..sigh. but other than that, rather nice.
maybe I'll try april next.

Ha, kinda reminds me of the Will Vinton studio-produced claymation sculpts for the Crunchabungas commercial!
