New TMNT Animated Fan Film on Kickstarter Titled "Ghosts in the Attic"

I just got linked to this new Kickstarter for a new TMNT Animated Fan Film. This one is apparently about a Fifth Turtle name Vinny.

The art is just...uncomfortable. Especially Splinter.
Why's it so neon?

I'm not going to trust a project that puts spaces between its commas.

People are really starting to go overboard with this OC stuff and an apparent belief that everyone else is supposed to give a crap (at least outside their immediate circle of friends who are into it)... to the point we're now suggested to fund a project for one? Yeah, no thanks. It's just barely a TMNT film other than the premise suggests Mikey is almost killed, then the OC runs off and it's an OC film.

I miss when the greater majority of a fandom surrounded the actual property it was about, not about OCs. Not that some OCs can't be very well done and if people make their own additional character for their own stories that fit well into the tale they are telling, then great, but when the actual TMNT seem to get lost amid it (hi, remember those guys?) or OCs seem to be more about getting attention... ugh.

Sure, I've added people to things before that could be labeled as OCs, but I'll never believe they're special enough that anyone but me should ever give a crap about them. (Unless you guys want to give me money? lol)

No offense to the artist, but that second piece could have been skipped on including... to be honest, Leo looks rather like some of those kids born with microcephaly.

Sometimes if you want a story about your OC, leave it as fanfiction. Especially in this kind of situation. Don't make a grandiose deal out of something that no one's going to be interested in.

Even my OCs don't dominate my concepts like this...even when a large portion of it requires their perspective.

hahahahahhahaha...

My other favorite is the guy who started copying my idea of animated intro's. he started out with turtles too....but never updated what he did. did a slightly better real ghostbusters intro..

but then asked people to start donating as the only way he'll be able to produce more content and hasn't posted a single thing since in 3 years.

He got a total of $4's in donations last I checked. $10,000's or anything close to even $50 probably isn't even legal for a viacom owned property. didn't the star trek people get in trouble for this type of thing? and even they where semi official with I think some of the voyager cast signed on...IIRC.

Do it for the love of the property and the love of art, and the love of continuing learning. otherwise, don't bother.

Despite my non-preference for the PD incarnation of tmnt and the conservative in me screaming death for human/turtle intimacy, I actually thought the short wasn't that bad for something made by a single person.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

He needs 35 POUNDS, Guv'nor. That's about 70 of your bleeding Yankee Doodle Dollars.

Just checked. It's about $50. As I said not sure why such a little amount he is asking that he cannot fund himself?

Being perfectly honest, if he were going to do the entire fan film in the style in what is presented in (what I assume) the concept art, I'd be like "*uck, here is your $50 right now" it would be a kind of interesting style to see the ninja turtles in.

credit where credit is due...no one would expect them in a fan project

Didn't Paramount put their foot down on fundraising for fan films?

Well... in that case, I wish him the best of luck. (Seriously, that takes a bit of ego to think your OC project could even generate money at all let alone 10k.)

Wouldn't surprise me at all, and probably should. If this guy actually got that 10k or more he wants he probably would not like hearing from them...

As it is, some related video I'd seen on YouTube (kickstarter one won't play for me so not sure if it's the same one) includes an image of the OC that is jarringly far too ripped right from the 2014 Leo promo poster, so it's certainly treading on thin ice.
