We (and I say "we" because I don't recall who specifically asked whom) asked Kevin and Peter about this some time ago. According to them, that art was not done by anyone at Mirage. Chances are it was farmed out to an external artist or done by a forever nameless marketing slave!

I just wish I knew who it was (its obvious from the start its no one official) cause I've always thought the early box art was one of the sickest renditions of the turtles, albeit a little cheesey perhaps... Really though, I'd commision the guy.

Yeah the early box art has always been one of my favorites. Just a certain style about it.

I believe I asked Murphy and/or Berger sometime ago. Knight Mike, Sorceror Splinter, and Savage Leo with BattleCat would have come with Part II. It might even exist somewhere. Does Dan still answer e-mails?

Dan B: Yup - I've got a copy of it in my office somewhere. Are you looking for specific info about it?

CJJ: Did you just do one comic for Warriors of the Forgotten Sewer? The story doesn't have an ending, does it?

Dan B: Yes. There were supposed to be more mini-comics, but Playmates decided not to do them because the line didn't sell well enough to justify the expense.


So there you have it, Vaughn...I rarely state facts I can't back up in one form or another.

Yes but they wernt going to come with the other figures that we know about, each figure was going to have that open ended comic.
There also had been plans for more Star Trek and universal monsters but they never got made either, nothing new for Playmates.

I inferred from my conversation with Dan that HAD the first four sold better, the line would have been continued and the second part of the saga would have come with the next wave (Knight Mike, Spell-Caster Splinter, and Savage Leo with WarCat/BattleCat). I don't know why you aren't inferring that, it seems like common sense but oh well everyone is entitled to their own interpretation I guess.

Those other figures are part of that same wave is the point I'm making, what I'm telling you is that they had plans for even more characters.

It's not, but I think the story was also printed in one of the Archie books. Maybe one of the specials.

It's printed in "TMNT meet Archie" Special in full color.
