I hope he returns and Shredder and Splinter work together for a common cause. Similar to when we see Xavier and Magneto teaming up. Possibly both running the Foot Clan together as partners. Seeing the two be friends again, like when they were children, seems like a new dynamic that I don't recall ever seeing in any iteration of the TMNT.

It is hard to see it actually see it being a long-term direction, but it would work for an arc or two. Shredder could be key in stopping The Pantheon and he could join the TMNT against Krang not tricked into distracting Krang like before, but actually fully working together. So yes it definitely seems like something that could happen given the character's direction and past arcs, but long-term I say it will not last past one storyline no more than two. I do see the two above threats as reasons two fresh back when he returns though.

yeah! most definitely let Shredder rot a good while to get nice and funky!

When he gets back to NYC the Shredder is swapping out Bebop & Rocksteady for Biggie and Tupac.

I'm not even voting in my own poll because tbh IDW has consistently surprised me. Like Hun being Casey's dad and Hob turning anti-hero. Shredders death didn't come as a shock to me at all because numerous incarnations of the tmnt have killed off or banished shredder with some permanence.

I personally would like to see a shark shredder again. It would work in this mutant heavy universe.
How cool would a city at war type story with a mentally unstable shark shredder leading one faction with Bebop and rocksteady by his side while splinter and karai lead another with koya and bludgeon.

He's coming back. They've laid all the groundwork before they killed him. We're going to get Demon Shredder before all is said and done. (Possibly in the form of Dragon Lord with Kitsune referencing him as her dragon and the variant cover for the Shredder micro)
