I'm now extra put out that I didn't get to apply for Social Media liaison position.
Missed opportunity.

It's kind of ironic all those people who predicted we would get a black April someday in a new incarnation turned out to be right. It's something I knew might happen someday, but I never expected it this soon.

That being said will she be a teenager again like Nick's April? It'd be weird if she were an adult.

Well...I mean, if Ben Schwartz can do okay in Ducktales so far...

So long as it's held to Ducktales caliber and not...PowerPuff Girls or Teen Titans Go.

"Everyone, seats to maximum buckling!"
(I don't have a gif or video for that scene, unfortunately...)

And as excited as I am for April, I'm a little concerned about how that will go too, depending on the show's tone.

Making Raphael the leader sounds like it came from someone still bitter from being wrong in the playground battles spawned by the mix-up in the rap from the 90's movie.

Which makes me worry about Raph, too. Leo may be my biggest concern, but I don't want anyone screwed over, and if they DO set it up like you and Jester have suggested, that sucks if Nick goes with their already overdone trend of Raph messing up.

Well, depending on what the 'problem' is. I always kinda loved that Donnie is kind of Leo's right hand guy and they do well together when the solution requires more than just fight skills and strategies.

Sadly I gotta go to work shortly, you all continue to have fun with this news I guess... I'm sure they're will be plenty more pages to look through when I return. lol

It's pretty obvious Raph and Leo will fight over the leadership position like usual. It may be something like Raph starting off leading because he's the most aggressive, but then Leo comes to his own as the show progresses and becomes more of a natural leader. It seems like it's an obvious character route to me so it doesn't bother me.

It might be good to see a Leo who is not a natural born leader for once, and has to grown into that position for once.

They all have their part in the team, not sure what Leo's contribution will be in the new show. Sadly I don't see this leader situation as temporary, they want it a bit different.

I guess that's one interpretation. Something just feels "off" about Raphael being leader, all things considered. Like an imbalance.

Yeah, it feels like its going to be temporary to me. Like this Leo has to grow into his leadership role for once, and Raph is probably going to mess up tons of times, etc.

I don't see the problem with this at all. As I said before, reminds me back in 2012 when people thought the idea of Leonardo being a geek for a sci-fi show felt "wrong" and then it turned out perfectly fine.

If we're lucky maybe the article is a mess up and they got Leo and Raph switched by mistake.

I wish there was a 'like' response but there isn't so I'll have to post it

It feels pretty deliberate.

I can see Ben Schwartz as more of a Michelangelo than a Leonardo too.

Then again, I see Schwartz' near-doppleganger Joe Keery as potentially being an amazing Casey Jones...and was slow to David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck and now I love it.

Also in Andre's Video the press release said Raph was the Biggest Of the Turtles. so kinda like how he was in the Mad Max episodes or something.

I took the reference to Raphael being the oldest brother or reading like he was the leader by description was incorrect. Remember the infamous blunder citing Raphael as the leader in T-U-R-T-L-E Power by Partners in Kryme?

Rob Paulsen stepping up as the voice director is interesting. While I don't care much for the direction this taking its nice to see legacy and one I am a big fan of involved.

I concur with others feelings that this all sounds like change for the sake of change. Whereas Ciro's show cared about what the true fans think, this show does not.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.
But Raph as the leader... I don't know.

I'll let you in on a little secret ...

Spoiler:
Ciro (and the rest of the 2k12 showrunners, for that matter) NEVER cared about the "true" fans of TMNT. If they did, they probably wouldn't have even created their show in the first place.

They were largely concerned with their own vision of the TMNT.
