Yeah, hard pass on everything related to this film. They keep hoping they can woo a new generation back to the franchise every five years. We, the adult fans with disposable income, would actually spend money on a darker TMNT experience going back to their roots with art inspired by the original Mirage stuff but no company wants to take a gamble at making a flick like that since they can’t market toys from it to a 6 year old.

Now Splinter has glasses too?

Uh-oh. Will he be Seth Rogen’s self-insert character?

I totally agree, but I'm pretty sure their target audience is not us 40'ish year old adults. The movie and the figures are clearly for children. I will enjoy the movie for what it's worth and I'll be buying these for my children who adore tmnt as much as I did. I'm sure the movie and figures wont be everyones cup of tea lol

These don't look too bad outside of me wishing Raphael had a normal friggin' bandanna.

I wonder if maybe Splinter is blind? lol

That's where I'm at. I'd love Hollywood to take TMNT seriously, but at this point I'm content with the comics and the occasional figures. Anything else is a bonus. Kevin Eastman is still making the comics and that's always been my favorite avenue of TMNT.

And with those expectations in check (and they did have to be put in check after years of me being disappointed in TMNT films), I can actually look at these new designs and appreciate the callbacks to Fred Wolf on a nostalgic level.

As for the movie itself, it's going to come down to the script and direction, as to whether I can get past the first 20 minutes of it and end up finding something I appreciate. The leaked storyboards would indicate that this film won't have anything to offer me, but I'll wait to pass judgement.

Maybe some will just be relieved to see that there are no "human variants", featuring a rainbow cast of diversity and lgbtq. Let's see, Mikey would be the gay one, Raph is the black one, hmm, Donatello is obvious trans, and Leo is an asian. Just kidding. Diversity is great and all but I am going to make fun of how far it's gone these days.

Bebop now looks like your typical Gender Studies student thanks to that new haircut. What happened to the mohawk?

Heh, no April figure in the line?

Rocksteady reminds me of something out of a newspaper comic strip, but I just can't place it.

I like them.... they look like fun toys. And I miss toys. I'm growing tired of the collector lines where I worry about damaging or chipping the paint, stuck joints, bulky packaging that I feel compelled to keep, etc. Gimme a $10 figure I can rip off the cardback and just start playing.

I don't really have much of an opinion on the designs. Splinter is definitely a bit of a departure. They kind of remind me of the 90's "tude" era, where everything had to have a bit of a "rude and cool" edge to it. I'm a 90s kid so I guess maybe I respond to that a little bit.

I thought Mcfarlane will do the line? Not that I'm complaining since I prefer the 5 inch scale for the turtles to fit the rest of the playmates release.

The figures don't look too bad, I'm glad we finally have painted weapons again. Leo and Donnie looks good, Raph looks OK, Mikey is meh. I will probably skip the rest.

Interesting that they've gone all-in on the original figure's hunter motif for LH. Even has night vision goggles now!

Splinter with glasses is unique. Guessing we're looking at another mutated Hamato Yoshi, then. (Which also explains how Don has a pair. Might be Yoshi's old spares.)

Designs are terrible and seem to be weird proportions for weird proportions sake.

That said the Playmates figures look great. Lots of articulation (for PM) and a fair amount of accessories. Good toys.

But bad designs.

They look pretty great. Everyone will have their opinions on the character designs but I like the weird disjointed cartoony look to them. I think the figures themselves look like the best playmates stuff in years besides maybe the last ronin figure. I also like the card art. I'll probably get most of these.

I know what you mean, but...

Are these things gonna retail for between $13-15?
