You and me both. That’s why I figured I would post it so we can all discuss as it plays out.

I know there were a couple sold as BINs years ago, but has a gold ever sold on an open auction? It'll be interesting to see the hammer price.

Currently at $3,550. I hope someone deserving gets it. I think at least one dromer has been searching awhile now for one. I wish I could see the label better. I think the CGC green is about not witnessing signatures, but not sure if it’s about anything else?

Unless it was an insane amount I think that was a dumb move. Bidding may have gotten astronomical.

I was thinking that also. Or that the seller was fishing to see what it might be worth and got freaked out when it started climbing so soon. What was the opening amount? I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets listed again with a really high reserve. Unless it did sell.

Like 12,000? What’s your guess?

The opening amount was 99 cents. No telling what the final price would have been..it would only take two people who really want it to drive it to astronomical levels.
Looking at the bidding history earlier, there were only 3 bidders, with two main ones going back and forth.

edit: TurtleWA to answer your earlier question about the CGC green label.. "Qualified".. it means a book that has a glaring flaw but would otherwise be graded as the grade shown. So in this case, yes, the non-witnessed signatures and sketch are seen by CGC as a "flaw". A qualified grade could also be given for a page missing or coupon cut (Hulk 181 is often graded qualified because of a missing Marvel Value Stamp). You can request CGC to give you either a green "qualified" or blue "universal" label. They would knock the grade down significantly if a blue label was requested, but qualified is basically "what it would be" without that glaring flaw.

This would have gone for upwards of $20K. Just don't understand why these sellers don't let these auctions run their course. So frustrating... still can't land one of these.

Yeah it’s frustrating when your ready to buy and can’t. I hope your get one sooner than later.

@MrPliggins thanks for the CGC info. And wow I wasn’t expecting that the auction started at only 99 cents.

Would you have gone that high had the auction stayed? (Just an honest curious question, no offense intended.)

It's definitely possible but that's pretty steep for me. I lost out on a Gold a while back where my highest offer was bested. The offer than beat me had to have been around nearly $15K. So, with so much visibility of this one on eBay, I was thinking that would be higher than that.
