Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) deleted scene with trenchcoat Raphael?
I watched this movie tonight as a part of a TMNT movie re-watch (next is OOTS and Batman vs TMNT), and I remembered an action figure that was a part of this movie's toyline of Raphael in a trenchcoat, likely a homage to 1990 Raph.
I also vaguely recalled some production stills for 2014 TMNT of April and Raph wandering NYC with Raph wearing the coat, likely in disguise. Was this scene ever officially released? Or referenced anywhere official, like a novelization or anything? |

There are probably a lot of deleted scenes from that movie that we'll never see, given the reshoots.

I've never seen one turn up, sad to say. I think the only deleted scenes released (or included on disc) of either movie were entirely lacking any TMNT. And dull. Boo.
edit: Which is a shame, because I'd possibly pay money for a copy of deleted Turtle scenes and every amusing outtake and mistake with them rendered into the scenes, making it look like the TMNT were messing up their own lines. Last edited by IndigoErth; 12-10-2020 at 08:29 PM. |

It was probably in the earlier iteration of the movie before Bay ordered a lot of it rewritten and reshot. Same with the scene in which Raph interacts with Nickelodeon mascots. Not sorry these scenes did not make the cut. They looked dumb as hell particularly if we're supposed to buy that Liebesman's original vision was more serious.

I'm not sure if it would have been Bay just ordering changes to the allover movie or the fact that they made these Turtles so big that it looked ridiculous and that PD Raph trying to be disguised like that would have instead drawn 100% of eyes around him. lol

However, I live close to NYC, and been there in the winter, and some people do over bundle up like Raph in the stills. So...I dunno, lol. |

There was a scene shot in Times Square were Raph is out of his disguise with some children's entertainers dressed as Nickelodeon characters. Dora and Spongebob if I remember right. I guess passers by were supposed to think Raph was a guy in a giant turtle costume.

There was a whole 'nother movie's worth of content cut from that thing, much of it focused on the turtles. Too bad, I guess? While I don't think it could've been improved upon much given what they did with it, some more turtle scenes couldn't have hurt. As for this scene, my speculation is that the dialogue from or the overall point of that scene pertained to one of the plots that was altogether removed.

In a morbid way, I actually want to watch the unaltered cut.

Me too. I'm very curious about it.
The first Platinum Dunes movie is a total mess, but I did like the turtles, and if much of the cut scenes is focused on them, I am curious about what else they intended for them. |
