Scooby Doo & Courage The Cowardly Dog Crossover Movie (2021)

Quote:
TurnerClassicMovies.com has announced two brand new Scooby-Doo films coming in 2020 and 2021. In addition to the King Arthur DTV and Scoob! film coming in the first half of 2020, we will also be getting another Halloween film towards the end of the year, likely in September or October. The film is currently untitled, but a listing can be found on TCM.com.

We've also got a Scooby-Doo and Courage the Cowardly Dog crossover coming in 2021, right now simply titled "Scooby-Doo! and Courage the Cowardly Dog." The title will likely change before it's released in 2021. Here's the listing for that one on TCM.

Also, TCM lists that there will be two films in 2022. It does not list the titles for these films, or a second film for 2021 as of now, though this is of course subject to change.

Hope they don't change Courage's distinct art style too much.

Oh this was a great choice for a crossover. I never watched much of Courage but I should have. I remember some was actually pretty creepy.

Still want Scooby and Ghostbusters though.

I haven't watched Courage in along time but I remember the odd ball animation it had so I'm curious which type they are going to use for this crossover. I also wonder about the interactions between the characters, I assume Shaggy and Scooby will interact with Courage the most leading to some hilerious moments while Fred and his team interact with the elderly folks of this series, sorry forgot the names of them.

I'm also curious about that Halloween film, it'd be nice if they kept Velma away from it as she's been a real buzz kill of late.

The movie could possibly have a devotion to Ron Mclarty, who voiced several characters in the show during it's heyday, he died recently of dementia

I'm wondering how the dialogue will work with Courage. Courage only speaks English to other animals and the audience whereas with Scooby, humans can understand what he is saying. I imagine Courage will only speak English with Scooby. It's gonna be pretty weird if Muriel and Eustace can understand Scooby but not Courage, lol.

I'm down with this.

It is curious to me how Scooby movies consistently go with standard DVD or HDX Digital releases and don't even bother with BluRay/4K or combo paks.

I get the (somewhat superficial) similarities between the two shows... It's just that while Scooby-Doo has continued to be an active franchise, Courage ended almost 20 years ago and has more or less remained inactive. Are the reruns just really popular or something? Does the show do well on HBO Max?

If you told me there was going to be a crossover movie between Scooby-Doo and one of the old Cartoon Network shows, I might have guessed Courage. Odds are however that I would have probably guessed Dexter's Lab or Billy and Mandy. Not because they match Scooby-Doo better, they probably mesh worse, but because they lasted longer and I would assume there was a bigger fanbase.

Courage's world doesn't follow the same rules to cross over with Scooby Doo but unlike Green Lantern or Wonder Woman at least this crossover makes sense and is cool.

i'm guessing it's only parents who buy cheap dvds for their kids, they don't care about quality, just to get the kid to watch something. I'm guessing the digital releases are always HD. And the audience that buys BR/4K are movie buffs who are likely not buying Scooby Doo DTVs.

That's when Scooby-Doo's revival started and they respected the franchise. It really was Scooby's best years in a long time. After decades of yearly DTVs they don't seem to care anymore and just put scooby in generic DTVs or gimmick movies to sell. It's been dark times to be in the scooby fandom.

Aside from that, I've needed a new PS2 and original XBox for over 10 years but I keep putting them off for whatever reason even though they're not even that expensive.

Breaking Bad probably had the best series finale anyone could ask for, and we now have a nice epilogue with Jessie in "El Camino" and whatever they do with Saul post-BB as an addition to that.

This is the most excited I've been for a Scooby Doo movie in a long time even if it's due to Courage the Cowardly Dog, one of my favorite CN shows. Glad to see it finally coming and I loved that trailer. While the animation doesn't look all that good, I'm just happy it's coming.

I'm glad to see that they're letting Courage speak English more here. When Seasons 2-4 came, he noticeably spoke a lot less and it kinda irked me because I always enjoyed his lines. It was most apparent when he stopped reading what he was typing on his computer when he used to read them during the first season. It seems like he only speaks English to Scooby which on one hand it makes sense but on the other hand, Scooby in recent years has gotten better with his speech without starting with the letter "r" for a majority of his words (Cartoon Logic: humans can here Scooby talk but not Courage). Also, could Shaggy hear or understand Courage when he said "gesundheit" to Scooby?

Comments on cartoonbrew think WB left him out but he did not want to do it according to this. I’m curious why not. It’s very fitting for a crossover and Scooby is so iconic.

Anybody had a chance to watch this yet?

I only found out today that Thea White (voice of Muriel) passed away this summer and that this movie is her last screen credit. Hate to hear that, but I'm happy she was able to reprise her role one last time.

Perhaps it’s because of it being modern direct-to-dvd scooby foo film, but I found the movie pretty boring by the half way point. Not even the reveal of Katz and Le Quack could win me over.
