3 new DC Animated Movies Announced
That will be followed in the spring by Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, the first Suicide Squad movie set within the DC Universe Original Movies’ shared continuity. (Batman: Assault on Arkham, the 2014 movie that also featured the Suicide Squad was set within the Arkham video game continuity.) Hell to Pay will feature an original story and what’s promised to be an amazing, though sadly not-yet-revealed, voice cast.
Rounding out the 2018 releases will be Death of Superman, the first part of the two-parter. Adapting the legendary story of Superman’s fatal battle with Doomsday, this will actually be the second DC Universe Original Movie to adapt the material. The first, 2007’s Superman: Doomsday, was the very first DC Universe Original Movie and greatly condensed and altered the original comic book event to fit within its 75-minute running time. The upcoming adaptation will be more faithful to the source material, much less condensed and will include many of the fan-favorite moments from the story that were left out of Doomsday. Finally, in early 2019, look for Reign of the Supermen, the second part of the two-part adaptation. While we’ll have to wait for an official synopsis to learn all of the details, that name should be a familiar one to Superman fans and suggests we’ll be seeing the rise of the Superman alternates that took his place during the year after his death. (For those unfamiliar with the story, they were Steel, Cyborg Superman, Superboy and the Last Son of Krypton.) This part of the Death and Return of Superman was greatly simplified in Doomsday, which instead featured a single alternate Superman rather than the four we saw in the comics. The also put Gotham By Gaslight in this article but there is already a thread for it on here http://www.dccomics.com/blog/2017/07...e?sf99907784=1

So they're just re-doing the Superman Doomsday movie they made 10 years ago, just more faithful to the comic this time? Meh.
This DC animated movie line has had more misses than hits. For every great movie there is 2-3 more boring or disappointing ones. |

I'm worried whether or not Superboy will show up in this adaptation or not, but he apparently will still be a guest character in Young Justice so there's hope...it's just the recent reallingment of continuity in the Rebirth comics omitted Kon from the events of Reign.

Didn't they do Death already?
That was my initial thought when I read it. It's a shame that these movies have fallen into the gutter after awhile. I miss when they used to do different stories and styles before settling on straight adaptations and Phil Bourassa's only designs. |

Meh it was an adaptation. Im not a fan of panel for panel retreads. Give me something different, I don't know who's clamoring for a second death of superman movie. That is going be somewhat faithful but still condensed to fit the 75 minute runtime.

I'm looking forward to seeing them doing Death right. I hope the original Blue Beetle, Dove and all the other heroes that went down trying to stop Doomsday also appear. They did such an amazing job with Dark Knight Returns 1 and 2, that I can't wait to see this one done with the same energy.
Who cares if it was 'done before'? IMO it was done so horrible that it's almost as if wasn't done before. And yes, they better add Superboy.

That symbolically makes a lot of sense.
Spoiler:
I really liked the first one so I'm really looking forward to this.

Feedback for it is really good so far. Very much a Lois-centric film too.
