Frank Robinson MLB Hall of Famer Dies at 83
Frank Robinson of the Reds and later Orioles played between 1956 to 1977. He was a player-manager at the end of his career effectively becoming the first ever black manager at the major league level. While not a part of the big Red machine in the 70s' he won the World Series in 1966 and 1970 with the Orioles. He played hard acted as if the opposition would cut his paycheck if he under performed as a way of motivating his play ability. He worked with MLB up to 2011 as a advisor to the commissioner after he finished a stint with the Expos overseeing them transform into the Nationals. There were few harder players than Robinson and as respected. He has been in declining health to the point he has been in hospice for four and a half months. Frank made an impact on the game as a player and helping finish off what Jack Robinson, Hank Aaron, and Willie Mays started.
