Never got the call for my Burger King job yesterday. I also walked from my house to a center area with tons of stores... all of them are hiring online.

I get times change, but man, I kinda wish I had my license or something. It was a four-hour walk overall and it was murder for me.

While watching some good anime I dropped my tablet on the floor. It's got an Otter Box so it was fine, but my earbuds didn't make it. Stupid jack snapped and the piece was stuck in the tablet. I was eventually able to get it out but I'm still stuck without a pair of earbuds.

My dad keeps eating most of the food in our apartment.

It gets really irritating. I just wish that he would stop.

The Semi Gear Grinder strikes me again.

My Dad (upon promise that I would pay him back the $$), was kind enough to order another battery for my Inspiron laptop since the old battery is half-way ready to crap out on me.

Unfortunately, the laptop battery was delivered to his house instead to my place.

I made up the location. So, I don't really have a husbando.

So as of yesterday, after trying to medicate her for a week and a half, my Oranda decided she doesn't want to accept the food anymore. Only accepted one piece yesterday morning (she usually gets several bite sized pieces of the medicated stuff), and nothing in the evening. Doesn't want normal food either; the stuff she loves. Had medicated the water again after work, but later made the tough decision to stop meds and just let her be. At this point it's clear that it's not doing any good and I don't want to keep pushing it if she doesn't want to anymore. Even if stopping and just letting whatever happens as it does is heartbreaking and on top of other stuff right now I could just throw up... So, just switching to focusing on keeping her comfortable for however long she wants to stay in this life.

Though she still has some fight left in her, so I still wish she'd pull off a miracle. At the very least I hope in her little fishy mind she knows she's loved and I tried my damndest and won't stop hoping until she decides she's done. Though I'm afraid of having her go all alone in the back room in the night or when I'm at work. (Figures that now is when work wants to give better hours so I'm home less and the shifts have made it a challenge to medicate her on a normal schedule.) Was so hard to go to bed last night and leave her. Too many fish just go disregarded and treated like replaceable lesser animals and, though I've never been the best aquarium keeper either, I don't want her to ever think that's been her life, if a fish could consider such things.

Though that is more of a sob story rather than a grind. The grind being that meds I ordered for her on the 13th finally showed up today. And they sent the wrong stuff! (Other meds I ordered the same night, after getting worried about that eBay seller and their delivery timing, showed up a day early last Thursday. After traveling twice as far.) No, that's okay, it was only for a pet someone was trying to save...

I suppose the only upside is that what they sent is sometimes sort of suggested as one to try? I guess. So that gives me another option, though I'm torn whether to try it. It's a relative of the one I already just stopped and I don't want to put her through more that isn't going to help. At the same time, I don't want to be left thinking I should have tried it... (Do I try it because I'm willing to try anything to save her, or do I leave her alone because I also don't want to force her to deal with it anymore? I mean god knows how such meds even make pets feel and if like people it might just make us/them feel worse in the meantime?) Was going to give it to her earlier, but thinking I might wait until Thurs., my next day off work, and see what the situation is. If she's still go the same amount of life in her as today, then maybe.

I dunno. Pets are hard. And awesome. And happy making. And sad. Don't know what I'll do without her antics and general goofiness.

Sucks about your fish. As a fellow aquarist, I know how frustrating it can be to deal with sick ones.

What's going on with your oranda? I think I've treated everything at least once. Even pulled a pitiful female betta from Petsmart back from dropsy once. What med did ypu get?

She's had a whole bunch of stuff at this point. Started with the kanamycin (food only), tried the amoxicillin as well (food and water), then moved on to Metroplex (food) and tetracycline (food and water; because god knows if I ever got the ph low enough for it to even have any effect). The one I was mistakenly sent and not used is doxycycline.

In June she seemed to get a very mild case of dropsy and we beat that okay with the kana and a round of amox after it. Though I'd read that it has a tendency to return, and things were okay up until this just blew up so fast and bad. Had been trying so hard to keep up on it to try to stave off a repeat and get the good bacteria back that was no doubt killed off in the first round of this... and then this.

Right now, she's just on clean water and epsom salt in an effort to keep her comfortable.

Kana and epsom is the only thing that ever worked for me. Dropsy sucks. Its kidney failure and there's only so much that you can do for a fish unfortunately. I've seen people use needles on bigger fish to relieve the bloating but I don't trust myself to try that.

Yeah, I wouldn't trust trying to do it either. And for what, if the kidney's are shot then I assume the issue is just going to keep up and I wouldn't want to put her through the stress and pain of being jabbed with needles.

Edit: Decided this morning on a last ditch effort with a water dosage of the Kana (via Kanaplex). (And epsom still of course.) I'd started with that, but had later read that the amoxicillin might weaken it, so she may have never really got an entire dosage of that alone. Might not do any good, but as long as it doesn't stress her out or appear to worsen it, why not... I know it's supposedly hard on the kidneys itself, but if they are in fact already shot then I guess there isn't much difference in at least trying it again (in the hopes that there is still some function that could be saved).

Sorry abut your fish, Indigo. That really is a shame.

Snake, I didn't see Papen's location so I didn't know that's what you were alluding to.

Dad was being pouty today and wanted to go outside even though we told him that we weren't taking him out for the rest of the week. We took him out on Sunday and he stayed out there for four hours. He always plays this game every time the nurse comes to see him and acts like we're not taking care of him when we are. It gets frustrating when he acts like this and I just want to smack him sometimes when he's acting this way. I just told him that he needs to suck it up and deal with it because we're not taking him out and that's it.

Grinder for today- bad headache all day, and have been hoarse and raspy all day as well. Started coughing at work too. I think I may be getting a nasty summer cold. Mr D says there is a bug going around, and that a couple of people at his treatment have it. That is just peachy- this is JUST what I need right now....

Recently had a hair cut and decided to get buzz cut so short i'm practically bald. I like my new hairstyle (or lack thereof) but now comes the dreaded part when my family finds out

My mother will surely be upset knowing her son's beautiful hair is all gone, and my father won't be too happy either, but they know I am at that point where I'm making my own decisions.

Well there's worse things you could have done, at least that can grow back. Better that then, I dunno, a weird tattoo in the middle of your forehead. lol

Thanks.

Been reading that kidney failure is supposedly one of the better ailments to go from, and assuming it is hopefully the same for animals its at least slightly comforting that hopefully she at least won't suffer through this. I hope.
