What's your favorite issue of Mirage TMNT?
What's your favorite issue of Mirage TMNT, any volume?
For me, if I had to pick... 1. TMNT Vol. 1, #21 ("Return to New York," part 3) 2. TMNT Vol. 1, #43 ("Halls of Lost Legends") 3. TMNT Vol. 1, #37 ("Twilight of the Ring")

Leo's Micro Issue. Or one of the City at War issues.

What Goes Ground... ...Comes Around!
The fight between Leonardo and the many Foot Soldiers is one hell of a spectacle.

The first telling of a classic TMNT story by Kevin and Peter. The return of Shredder, the arrival of Casey Jones, April’s home burning down, and that epic fold-out page - My favorite single issue is probably Mirage Volume 1. #10.

The Leonardo Micro is nothing short of amazing. It is easily one of my favorite comic book issues ever!

Tales Vol. 2 issues 13 & 14 are my favorites. In them, 4 Leonardos team up together to set some ish right in the universe. A giant monkey time-lord pulls out child Leo, teen Leo, Adult Leo, & Old Leo from their respective points in time to do crazy stuff together. They share age/experience appropriate insights with one another along the way, it's very fun & introspective. Love it.

Volume 1 #4, #9, #11, and the Leo micro. They aren't full issues but my other favorite Mirage stories are New York Ninja and the Survival Game.
edit: Oh oh, and volume 1 #50!! I love that it's completely wordless, it's really powerful. Last edited by Sophie Campbell; 10-23-2019 at 04:57 PM. |

This thread made me dig up an ollllld spreadsheet I made in high school while reading the first two volumes of Mirage where I'd painstakingly rated the art and story of each issue on a 100 point scale and averaged those two ratings for a total score. I was a special boy. No surprise, it also has RtNY #3 in the top spot. However, in the number 2 slot I have TMNT volume 2 #9, which I couldn't for the life of me tell you what happens in that issue today. Guess I really liked it 15 years ago though, lol. Lots of volume 2 was high on the list, makes me kind of want to revisit it now despite the current notion I have that it was kind of disjointed.
I guess my vote today would still go to the Return to New York finale. 10, Leo, & 11 are also amazing like many have already said. Honorable mentions to "Leatherhead, Too" (v1#45), "Masks" (v1#46-47), "Blind Faith" (Tales v2#5), and "A Day in the Life" (Tales v2#55). Last edited by funatic; 10-23-2019 at 11:56 PM. |

Vol 1 Issues 5 and 6 will always hold the most fun for me as that was part of my introduction to Mirage TMNT.

In no particular order, I like:
Return to New York part 3 (#21) Hall of Lost Legends (#43) Kirby and the Warp Crystal (Donatello Micro) If we're adding short stories, my favorite is probably Old Times from Plastron Café. Very impactful. |

The early issues are mostly classics, but beyond those, I'd go with Dan Berger's amazing "Leatherhead Too," V1,n45:

As for the few I have looked at already, my favorite is undoubtedly Leatherhead’s debut: Tales of the TMNT Vol. 6.

No shocker here...Issue 10 is my fave. Love Leo Micro and #11 as well. Then the RTNY arc is just awesome all around.

Correct answer! Ha. Well actually I liked #10 even more than the Leo micro, and 11 as well--I do love the slower character development issues and the angst. all of RTNY and CAW were amazing, but my favourite issue of each was probably the final issue of each. The first Mirage comic I ever read was #12, Survivalists, so it holds a special place in my heart--plus Laird's art in it is so good. It's the best Don centric issue. Best Raph centric issue was Sons of the Silent Age or his micro, best Leo issue was his micro I guess, best Mikey issue was ... Distractions probably? For that fantastic art. Or the Rat King issue of Tales. Best Casey issue was Shades of Grey, of course. Best April issue was #11. Best Splinter issue was the one where he ate a rat. I also truly loved Halls of Lost Legends and Twilight of the Ring. I found those issues early in my search, too. Both are kind of wacky in their portrayal of Donatello, but both are also awesome. Nothing as cool and crazy as Mirage Vol. 1 will ever happen again in the TMNT lore. That all said, I haven't mentioned Vol. 2 or 4 because the issues blur together more, although Splinter's funeral issue stands out in Vol. 4. Tales Vol. 2 was also a fantastic series, but I'd have to go through again to remember which issues were the best. I think A Day in the Life stands out, and Leonardo Blind Sight. And the Tristan Jones issues. |

This might be cheating, but I love all three Mike Zulli issues and 48 and 49 the “Shades of Grey” Casey centered story. Anything with a drawing of Rat King too.

if I had to pick: Mirage vol.1 issue 1 and 2, and tales of the TMNT, vol.1, issues 4 and 6. those are some real classics.
