Planet of the Apes 4

Not going to be a reboot:

I hope it goes to the far future, like the original movie. Let's bring in some time travel and get crazy.

They should make 5 movies out of this new reboot and then stop there. It's probably the only successful new movie reboot of a classic movie series since Aliens, Terminator, Predator, etc. fail over and over again, and Jurassic Park and Star Wars had mixed results. Especially considering the 2001 Tim Burton Apes reboot failed too.

It's actually a miracle these movies are good, all things considered.

So wait this is a continuation of the previous 3 movies rather than another fresh start or reboot?

That's weird. It's been so many years since the last one they might as well do another fresh take.

A new saga begins.

“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” picking up many years after “War for the Planet of the Apes,” starts production next month and stars Owen Teague, Freya Allen, and Peter Macon. Directed by Wes Ball, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” arrives in 2024.

My assumption was always that the 4th one would tackle what happens in the original film with some sort of time skip seeing as Cornelius and Nova were just kids at the end of War. But I guess it makes sense for there to be a lot more story left before the astronauts return to Earth. At this point, I don't think they'll ever revisit the original film and instead honor it by acknowledging that's where things are inevitably heading.

I guess the plan is now to make 5 movies to match the original 5 movies.

I see no reason they couldn't squeeze another trilogy out of this.

It's best just to make 5 movies.

I never know 100% with you, but I admit, I do like the super odd nature of the original "quintology." 5 movies and mic drop. Like, OK. I honestly couldn't imagine any further movies that would have added much. They did a really great loop there.
