I liked the art in this season its my second favorite after the first five episodes of course....
When the soap was dissapering: Michelangelo - "Bummer no soap... no hope!" Underwater: Michelangelo - "Woah buds that was definetly a radical ride!" Leonardo - "Now all we gotta worry about is getting to soar!" Raphael - "We got bigger problems then that Leonardo!" Donatello - "You're always looking for trouble..." Raphael - "Oh yea... well this time the trouble's looking for us!" Terrifying fish comming towards them: Donatello - "Yikes! It's Mobey Dicks big brother!!!!" Fish circuling the four mini turtles Michelangelo - "Like I promise dude I'll never eat another anchovee pizza again!" Raphael - "I got new for ya bud you may never eat another pizza again period!" All 4 - "AAAAHHHHH!!" Net from above scoops them up: Baxter - "Well what do we have here looks like a rare species of soon to be extinct turtles!" Donatello - "Something tells me we were better off with the fish..."

Yes, I do cap my own clips, thank you very much
Sadly the only ones you'll get to hear for the next 4 classic ep discussions from me are ones already posted on the sound clip page (all but one capped by me though) Speaking of which, I think it's about time to start a new classic ep thread... |

Definetly are we goin' in order or what?
Here's my favorite shrinking turtle quote: Raphael - "I didn't know they made soap this big!" Michelangelo - "Must be the large family size." Doantello - "Speakin' of things that are large..." (Points to snake) Leonardo - "Were not swallowed yet!" (Chopes off soap, snake eats it) Raphael - "Let's do lunch again some time! Nice going Leonardo now were travelin' economy class!" (Later) Raphael - "Looks like were not the only ones shrinking, the soap is to!" Leonardo - "Hold it guys weve got more serious problems!" Michelangelo - "Oh yea like what?" Leonardo - "Like that a STORM DRAIN!!" Donatello - "And were headed right for it!" Michelangelo - "Oh what a bummer no soap, no hope!" |

April used the crystal to return them back to normal size (it was Donatello's idea to try it). |

I can't help but wonder if the crystal may've been voice activated, like if whoever held it had to say a particular word in order to activate it.

Re-watching this episode brought back some memories. I definitely remember the part about all four Turtles crammed together on a piece of soap floating down the sewer stream
Overall, it's a so-so episode. Like someone else said the shrinking theme is a classic and it does offer up some funny moments but I feel the episode doesn't really get going until the very end. The Shredder and Splinter fight scene is pretty good actually (perhaps their first proper fight?) and it leaves with Splinter telling the Turtles to let Shredder go because "Even our mistakes can serve as teachers"! Which I thought was a nice ending! |

Yes you're right about that and Krang and Shredder dialogue is an endless source of entertainment!

The fun in this episode is about the good moments, and not the stock cartoon plot.
I don't care about the OT being "badass", but I like Shredder being a physical threat to the heroes, and the duel with Splinter at the cheese factory is pretty cool to my inner child (the little girl inside me is always rooting for Splinter, even if some of his backflips make his robe fall down, which is pretty disturbing). Krang is also SO hard to please, and it's great. It's probably not meant to be funny, but the way that Baxter invents a turtle detector just out of nowhere makes me giggle. As does the scene with the ice cream cone, and his entire Renfield act. I like this episode for that, and not the "search for plot device/shrinking things" plot

I also loved the Shredder/Krang dialogue in this one. We really hadn't got to see them arguing like an old married couple until this point. Well, I suppose they did it a little in Return of The Shredder. The high pitched voices were hilarious, but they really didn't pitch them up all that much. Not nearly as insane as Funny, They Shrunk Michelangelo's voice effects were.

hehe Never thought of that. Yeah Krang is the type to make others squirm and cackle about it. Ah I love that guy even if he does happen to be a little twisted.

This is my 500th post, so I thought maybe I could post it in this thread. This was one of the very first episodes of the series that I remember watching as a little kid. It also stood out to me because of its plot. I also remember having a dream about where Irma suggesting feeding the turtles ice cream, so they could become large again.

one thing that was great
shredder takes down all 4 turtles! it was the first time he did that! in the first 5 episodes he loses to raphael. but here he actually takes down all 4 by himself in "clean combat" (you mean dirty combat) |

This was one of the very few moments where Shredder defeated all Turtles and he did it by himself? I wonder why the Turtles lost so easily? I assume that they didn't have much experience fighting Shredder head on and got better as the series progressed. I hear Shredder is supposed to be on par with Splinter.
