I may not be a fan of the idea of a live action Lion King, but pretty neat they brought back Jones for Mufasa. My interest has piqued a little bit.

The only reason I would be remotely interested in this would be if Atkinson returned as Zazu.

If not, they should cast Benedict Cumberbatch as Scar, He would be perfect.

Didn't we have lots of live action "Lion Kings?" From Robin Williams to Mel Gibson all star in one.

Maybe the environments will be real, but all the animals will be CGI.

Yup. This will probably be filmed entirely on sound stages like The Jungle Book was, except this film won't even have the one human non-CGI character. Still, could be good though.

Yeah, I think they will do the same thing they did with the Jungle Book, Just with no humans.

How the heck would this work? Live action musical sure, film? It's action, they are supposed to talk and stuff, not to mention the musical scenes. I'm still confused about what they are doing with Little Mermaid live action, I haven't seen the trailer yet, I know Splash the 80s film was supposed to based off of that but what about the crab and the colorful cast?
This doesn't sit well with me. The only way I could see this film working for me is if it turned out to be a documentary on Africa with lions fighting each other for territory and subplot with romance between the King Lion and female Lion. What about the fabulous duo though? They were in my opinion some of the best parts of the film >> |

The original was a great film. This new reboot should improve upon the weaknesses of the original in order to stand out rather than be a carbon copy, that's what I'm most looking forward to.
1. Scar should still be an interesting character, even after he becomes king. In the original, he started out cunning and subtle but became a big baby as soon as he was in rule. 2. The main lesson. To know what I'm talking about, look at Nostalgia Critics review of the film. There were great moral lessons within the film (the past can hurt) but I think Simba confronting Scar about his past was seriously flawed because he's confronting a past that never happened, no one supported him when he confessed and it took a very convenient give away by Scar to give Simba the edge. As far as live action Lion King goes, I'm terrified of what it will look like. CGI animals always have a way of looking like they belong in the uncanny valley, in my opinion at least.
