I thought you were omitting First Class for some reason. No part of these movies seems like any kind of cohesive trilogy or quadrilogy or anything though, for sure.

And I'm a little fuzzy on why he duct taped the helmet onto Nightcrawler but not Jean Grey, who made the same trip onto the ship.

I might forget the weird blue guy (seriously, what is it with X-Men and blue mutants?) in Egypt, but I'm not forgetting the best damn X-Men movie.

Oh, what might have been...

That's a damn good point. Why doesn't Jean need a helmet? Do her psychic powers enable her to survive a vacuum?

As a matter of fact, yes. Jean is considered an "Omega" level mutant dor a reason. Even without the Phoenix Force, she is on a power level above even Charles or Eric, due to being both telepathic AND telekinetic. She has literally held planes together, deflected massive energy blasts, and even held off Magneto's powers. She can and has helped rebuild the school after an attack, literally brick by brick, with just her mind, and in a fraction of the time it would take to do by hand.

I liked this movie better than the previous take, but it still felt a bit flat. You just CAN'T do the story justice without the Shi'ar, D'ken, Lilandra, and the M'kran Crystal. Basically, you HAVE to have the background of the Phoenix in place, AND introduce the alien/cosmic elements, to really tell the story. Which akso means building up the Phoenix FIRST, and the Hellfire Club's attempt to manipulate Jean, before you can do Dark Phoenix.

For what it is worth, I want to see a movie based on Endsong/Warsong. I want to see Emma and the Cukoos with the Phoenix, and most of all, I want to see White Phoenix. I love that entire arc, and it is probably one of the BEST of the Phoenix stories.

Got to admit, that's a big move on Snitchberg's part. You don't see that often, if at all, from directors. Certainly not from guys like Singer.

It seems to me that they're adding something to the title in order to help make up the major financial losses that this film has experienced.

You mean actually having "X-Men" in the title? lol

It's still odd to me. You'd think Disney would want to NOT associate the movie with the X-Men if at all possible, given whatever plans of their own for the full reboot coming up.

The reboot is 4-5 years away, I don't think it really matters. It's the same way the last Fantastic Four film is all but forgotten by the time they ever introduce them in the MCU.

Wonder how much Jennifer Lawrence got paid for 15 minutes of this movie. Love the fact that she's still featured so prominently on the box art.

If I had to rename the Xavier School after one of the First Class-Dark Phoenix team members, I think Raven might have been a better pick than Jean Grey.

Let's be honest here, it's probably more like 3 years.

As the legend goes, the Phoenix shall crumble to ashes.

Wait.
