I read a magazine article years ago who had enormous breasts due to a medical condition and had to have surgery to have them reduced. Her reason for doing so wasn't being objectified (she had a husband and children), but her breasts were giving her problems such as severe strains.

Whenever I walk down the street wearing my Green Lantern shirt, people look at me with disgust and judgment. They are terrible people! Just because I'm dressed like a f*cking loser doesn't make me one!

A green latern shirt sounds awesome. I don't see how ppl judge others by what they wear. If a dude wants to wear skinny jeans let him wear them. If he wants to wear a superhero shirt let him. If a chick wants to wear booty shorts than she should be allowed to. If she wants to dress up like Lady Gaga or in a dress made of Monster tabs let her.

Same has happen to me. If a certain cartoon isn't Family Guy or South Park, people at my school won't think it's cool.

Jester, I agree about John Mayer. My mom likes him, too, while I've never been able to stand his music. Ugh.

meh, I'm on the fense when it comes to "don't look at my chest it's rude!" debate. Yeah, you shouldn't wear a plunging neckline if you want a the person you are conversing with to remain on your face. However This is really a cultural thing, because I can wear clothes that where I live wouldn't get oggled at but I can go to place with slightly different cultural standards and suddenly my attire is supposedly provactive. My father is a merchant mariner and travels the world and works with all kind of different men from differnt cultures. I was picking him up from the ship and I went on board. It was winter so I was wearing a nice sweater, nothing revealing, and jeans, they wheren't even tight jeans. I get on there and there are a bunch of ship hands that were arab, the looks I was getting from these men were disgusting. I mean they were openly leering at me. I get to my father and I ask him what the hell is wrong with these men, why are they staring at me so rudely. My father told me that they were not used to women who dressed in western clothes because the women from their countries typically wore the hijab. He then apologised to me for asking me to come on board because they acted like that even with the female ship hands. I was pretty offended, I understand that if you're wearing something blatantly sexual you are going to get leers but at the same time, a little restraint on the part of the one looking should be expected as well. I know that sounds really niave but I think a little responciable behavior on both the women and the men should be expected. Typically that isn't really enforced in most cultures.
I think what "grinds the gears" of most women in this situation is that the responciablity is placed on them to dress in a way that isn't going to draw attention to them. Which kind of puts pressure on them to always adjust how they look or act based on the temperment of the men they are interacting with. It kind of sucks that it is expected you have to adjust how you look but it's never expected that the guys curb their reaction or behavior. I get it though. With in reason, you can't expect men not to look if your breasts are hanging out in their face. But if I'm mostly covered up is there any need to star? I hope I don't get too much backlash for saying this, it's just my opinion. for the most part I think one has to have some awareness of how you dress will make people react to you. And I guees it is unreasnable to think a bunch of dirty arabs guys should have restraint upon seeing a western girl, (but if you travel the world maybe they should). But at the same time I don't think I should have to dress like a nun in street clothes carry on a conversation with someone.
