Are you a careful or a run-into-battle type gamer?
What I mean is do play with a "slow and steady wins the race" mentality being careful not to screw up or do you just "go for it"?
I've always been a very careful gamer. No matter the type of game I always play as safely as possible. Thinking about how I'm gonna do something or sometimes just pausing to gather myself. On my first play-throughs anyway. Basically I try to get through whatever it may be as easy as possible if opportunity is there. For example in GTA games when you can take cover as long as you want or hide somewhere even if it's not the way the mission was imagined. I do NOT mean lowering difficulty settings. I keep mine at normal.

Different games require different approaches. Can't say I'm one or the other, I'm both.

I'm thorough. I will explore every nook and cranny or hunt every hidden item so I guess Im careful?

I am a little of both and it also depends on the circumstances for me. With fighting games, I start careful, I guard a lot, I exploit weaknesses. When the game is a little more than halfway and I have the advantage, I start raining down powerful attacks and increase my speed by a whole lot. When I play Fifa, it depends, I go all out defense and attack at the same time. When I have the advantage by 2 goals, I put in fresh attackers and I change my tactic to Attack. If I'm playing with defense and I have the advantage by 3 goals from an early start, I'll finish the rest of the game with All out attack.

I usually take my time, so I guess I'm more of a careful gamer. In rpgs, I don't go into the next dungeon without grinding a bit or stocking up on items first. In Yugioh games, I consider my options before making a move.

I always play tutorials to familiarize myself with controls and movement in the games, so I guess, I am careful gamer.

I always take it slow and steady.
That way, I do better and enjoy the experience more. |

Careful for the most part. Wouldn't call myself a real "gamer" much, mostly some MMOs over the last bunch of years. In those I favor the Rogue class. That stealthy, strategic, quick little badass who's going to pick off enough of them carefully... Then show off and take on the rest when it's a do-able number. I'm not all that good with PvP (and others using actual game mice, etc prob give them a better advantage), but against world stuff, I've impressed myself at times. Diving in is foolish, unless you're one built for that. (But not afraid to try to take on a lone mod that's supposed to be way too high for me, and in places like WoW the Skull/question mark level ones... I enjoy the challenge and succeeding by the skin of my teeth sometimes. Think the highest I took down was some that were 12 or so levels over me. Very Carefully.)

I guess I'm more careful, but able to think fast if it's necessary. It also heavily depends on what I'm playing. |

I usually like exploring and discovering parts of games, so most of the time I play slowly. Rushing through a game is pointless.

It's weird because they're not from professional critics that would get copies in advance. My average time to beat a game (not complete) is a couple of weeks. I'll play a few hours a day.

If I'm new to a game, I play as a excited newbie that wants to explore.
If it is a new game that I struggle with, I'm cautious but also looking for new ways to win the level / challenge/ whatever. If neither tactic works, then I feel like *Hell with this..* and just play (or struggle) until a victory is achieved. If it is a game / level that I feel confident playing in, then I go in gung-ho and expect to have a fun time. |
