yeah i've seen that shirt pop up for sale a few times but always passed on it due to the quality of the print.
it is a gorgeous drawing though! both of them!

would you possibly consider sharing a copy of the scans if you ever have the chance?

I like the shirt more for the historical significance of being the first TMNT shirt ever offered, but the quality is definitely lacking. These guys were making things very cheaply before the Surge deal.

As for your question, sent you a PM.

thanks again!

it's really too bad there aren't really any shirts made these days from the Mirage Tmnt.

when ever i do see Tmnt shirts in the store it's either from the Fred Wolf cartoon, the Nickelodeon cartoon, or even worse the Bay Turtles!!!

no Mirage love.

it's a damn shame.

I'm surprised a store like Hot Topic doesn't have some throwback shirts. I don't really keep up on the current merchandise but I'd be drawn to the old Mirage art on a shirt.

every single Hot Topic throwback shirts i see from Tmnt is the Fred Wolf stuff.

i guess it wouldn't be so bad if the shirts were at least black. but a green T-shirt? EWWWWW!!!!!

Yes! Interestingly, the Artisan book reprints the original art pages from #1 in their actual size, so it's neat to see the difference in size between the early and later pages.

it's really nice to see the difference in sizes.

i love the style Jim's art had to it during this period. seeing this original art shows how the panels had a nice amount of background space, and gave enough room for the figures to breath.

thank you for sharing this.

Thanks. Nope, all are in a portfolio to be flipped through easily. I had a few framed years ago and didn't take into account the exposure to the sun unfortunately. In particular my #55 Splinter splash page has yellowed a bit as a result.

Wow dude bummer about the Splinter page. Makes sense to not frame them now after that. And it's definitely cool to have your own book full of original art to look through.

So was the page directly across from a window and the sun hit it every day? Or could non-direct sunlight do yellowing like that? Did you have curtains or blinds on the windows?

I am very curious if I need to make changes to my setup. I have window blinds and slivers of non-direct sun does shine through them and into the room.

I can't remember where exactly it was hanging in the room (This was in the '90s), but it was framed and on display, I'd say about 6 years straight. The yellowing isn't horrible, but it's evident compared to other CAW pages I have.
Also I was a teenager at the time, so I didn't take into account UV protective glass or anything like that. I don't think I ever closed my curtains haha.

I'm not against framing, but if I wanted to I'd take the necessary precautions these days. I like being able to flip through them like a book though.

Ok thanks for the info. Sounds like you have been collecting art almost your entire life, that's awesome.

Yes, that page may have been the first page of original art I ever acquired. I've collected on and off over the years. Outside of another page I found from an art dealer in '94, I actually didn't acquire another CAW page until only a few years ago.

Hey, an update! I haven't been buying many collectibles lately, but I had a pretty good mail day today:

- TMNT #73, Rich's exclusive cover! This book is awesome and I love Jim's cover art. I ordered one signed and one unsigned copy. Sweet!
(lost photo)

- Dark Horse Miniatures - the First Set! Baggie stapled to paper. Finally, the Dark Horse Miniatures set is closer to completion! See the last post on page 1 for my entire DH Minis collection.
edit: Upgraded

As always, thanks for looking.

Warning: risque content in spoiler (and censored).

I recently picked up this Eastman mini-comic, which predates TMNT. I think there were only 200 printed.
"Bad Girl Art" #3, 1982.
It's larger than your average mini-comic, measuring at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". Eastman contributes the wraparound cover only, none of the interior content. In the early days, he signed his art "KBE".

This cover reminds me so much of his cover for IDW's #29 cover B (which I also put an image of in the spoiler).

Thanks for looking. I'll be sharing some new OA pickups soon.

Spoiler:
