I had a pretty great pre-birthday with my boyfriend today.
Came to Ft Worth because my birthday is on Monday, when I'd be at school. We went to the Ft Worth Museum of Science and History and had dinner at my house, and showed a few episodes of Bojack Horseman to my mom. Tried some recipes I was interested in trying and like them. Super happy to see some of the fossil displays that haven't been there since the remodel. Like the fighting Camerosaurus and Allosaurus.

Going to see my sis and nephews today so that Mom can attend a Mass for my grandfather this afternoon. My sis is going to feed Dad lunch.

When your Walmart freeze pops are fancier than expected. Figured it would just be the basic typical flavors, but mango and pina colada too? Awesome.
Naturally, my nephew's first freeze pop, picked by and shared with my mother, was the one named/flavored after an alcoholic drink (aka the pina colada one). lol |

Saw my sis today but the nephews didn't stay over and went with their dad instead so it was just my sis and the dog. While looking for old piano books the boys could use for their new keyboard, we unearthed two folders from when we were kids. One was Rainbow Brite and the other was a TMNT one. I took the TMNT one for myself and my sis took the Rainbow Brite one.

Got my kitties home today . They did pretty good on the car ride too. Rain even sat in my lap for a little bit at the start of the trip, until she decided to climb to the back and sit under the seats.

Saw two hummingbirds outside Dad's windows yesterday and it was pretty cool. I like watching them feed at the feeder.

Nephew's first birthday. Party was this evening at a local park. Weren't sure how (or if) it would go since it was expected to rain and it poured once for a little bit, but fortunately my sister had rented a pavilion (one I used to be a day camp counselor at way back in my teens so it was fun to revisit it) and everyone was already there. (Wouldn't be a bit deal if it was the new pavilion next to the parking lot, but this is the oldest one that's a bit of a walk.)
Party seemed pretty disorganized and rushed... but it was fun. The infants/toddlers particularly had fun getting soaked at the 'water table' toy my nephew got from my mom and was taken to the party. Sister only wanted to have just a little water in it, enough to play with... while my mom went and filled it more, enough for the kids to soak themselves and keep some adults at a distance. lol edit: Oh, and I saw a Jeep Wrangler (black) with the best tire cover printed slogan... "I'm the black Jeep of the family." I'd so want one if mine was black (it's blue). lol Last edited by IndigoErth; 06-06-2017 at 09:37 PM. |

That's pretty cool for a slogan.
Slept better last night so I feel better than I did yesterday.

Just met Kristin Kreuk who was every bit as perfect as I've imagined her to be. Even made her laugh. Also, got a Vanilla Ice T-Shirt in the mail.
It's a good day to be me. |

Made a bean, veggie and rice stew for dinner. Pinto and great northern beans, mixed veggies(canned), rice and diced tomatos, with a Greek seasoning and a bit of salsa verde. Turned out pretty good, except the pintos were a little undercooked(even though they went into the pot LOOONG before the rest. Weird....) Made enough for a couple of days meals, which is good since I won't be working for a couple of days. The virus seems to have mostly run its course already, but I don't feel like going back just yet. Doc said Sunday, so I'm taking advantage of the brief respite to rest and recharge, and do a few things at home.

So this happened today at Home Depot...
Me: "Hey man, could you cut these? I need 5 of each, please." Him: "Sure." *begins cutting keys* *He turns off the machine halfway through* Him: "Guess what movie I watched last night?" Me: "...I...don't.." Him: "Reel Steel." Me: "The.. boxing robots movie?" Him: "With Hugh Jackman." Me: "....cool." Him: "You look a lot like Hugh Jackman." Me: "Thanks?" *goes back to work on the keys* *stops the machine with one key left to go* Him: "So, what are you doing this weekend? You getting into any trouble, Hugh Jackman?" Me: "No." Him: "I'm not doing anything either. Free weekend." Me: "Awesome." *long pause. He finishes the last key and gives it to me* Him: "I'm Jake." Me: "I'm not Hugh Jackman. Thanks, Jake." |

Left the house for only the third time this week since getting home from work on Monday (other two were my Dr. visit and a quick trip to the Shell station for drinks) to go to Wal Mart for a few things for hubby, and found the Bluray of Beauty and the Beast is finally out! Picked up it and the original Planet of the Apes (super cheap! $3.79!) along with the kitty litter and his test strips. Too bad they only had the first film in the bin but I've been wanting to get it for ages. Love me some Charlton Heston, and Roddy McDowell was great too. Oddly enough my favorite character from those films was Zira. Might watch it in a bit.
Also my game is tomorrow! Can't wait to have the groyp tackle the goblin lair and find out some of the other fun stuff I have in store for them. I recently had a devious idea for some exploding spiders.....

Took Dad outside for a bit since he wanted to go. Then when we came back in, I watched some of the Chicago Cubs game with him and sang the seventh inning stretch with him. When he sings, you can hear every word perfectly and he knows the words too.
