Irma and Mitsu? Those names are not usually on anyone’s want list for S7 TMNT Ultimate figures. Perhaps, NECA will beat S7 to a cartoon accurate Irma and possibly Mitsu.

Sure. Though if S7 did Irma, there could be a TV colors version and a figure color version. Also;

* Needlenose
* Killer Bee
* Some of the previously unmade toys like Junkman, Jagwar, etc.
* Perhaps even some “what if” figures of non-toy characters like Armagon and Lord Dregg as well as later characters like Hun, TigerClaw, Kavaxas, etc.

I thought there was a clear split of the licensing for cartoon vs. toyetic figures. I think they'd get in trouble over that variant.

But also...Irma? What? No. Not going to happen. All you have to do is look at Super7's track record so far (outside of MOTU, but even then lately with MOTU as well). People get excited but they never go all that deep.

A nostalgia company doesn't make money off of things that didn't exist in the past. But continue to wishful think...I mean it's fun, right?

Incredibly well said. And very defining about how this line could go from hero to zero out of nowhere at some point. That's how nostalgia works - you often clamor for a dose of it, but peter out quickly when you get it.

There's always hangers on though - I've done that myself for a few things here or there.

Ironically super7 started out by making their name with producing the Kenner retroStar Wars style 3.75 AlLIEN figures that were prototyped but never made in the late 70’s. The success of these figures launched the ReAction concept to include other licenses that never had figures or were not created in the retro Kenner SW style.

Yikes, you come off as pretty condescending, despite the fact you are very much incorrect.

In addition Super7’s Aliens line of toys that were never originally released (which made S7 what it is today, btw), they also made MOTU He-Ro and Eldor which were originally prototypes but never released. There was a huge pent up demand for those two figures, and Super7 capitalized on it.

Ehhh... I took what he was saying as a bit of insight and ignored the wishful thinking part.

But in defense of DL's point, you're examples are still something that was already there - even more that they worked existing prototypes out into the market. At a fundamental level, Super7 is a nostalgia figure company. It might be better examples to dig up something where they've literally released a new product, or a product without any previous incarnation. The Alien figs are a closer example.....

I would pretty impressed though if they churned out a retro Jagwar or some other Archie character like that. I'd probably have to give serious consideration to picking something like that up....

To be fair, none of us knew anything about those products back then, so I think they are very valid examples. But I respect your opinion.

Super7 also released shadow weaver in the 5.5” vintage scale, on a vintage cardback (as well as a classics/ultimates release), and she was a character we never got in the original toy line, not even a prototype. So that would be a 1:1 example with Irma from tmnt.

Hm... Ya that's a solid example! I'm not really on board with the Super7 thing at the price point, but reading some of this, all I can say again is that if they did churn out some Archie TMNT characters, that would be pretty fly.

Well, fair point about *toys* that didn't actually exist, *for* nostalgic properties.

But that line of ReAction is a little different. Those have got to be relatively inexpensive to make, even with licensing, and now they have raised them to a ridiculous $18 price point. Lololol... So there's gold in them thar hills. I think there's less gold in the hills of a $45 price point for things that aren't sure-fire sellers.

Didn't a lot of that Alien stuff end up deep discounted beyond belief to finally get rid of it? Even though I think I've seen some of it commanding a pretty aftermarket penny now, there was a period of time...not a short one if I recall...where it was on fire sale, including that playset.

The trouble with TMNT is the easy, assured nostalgia grabs are never-ending because the original line was so deep and beloved. It would be a lot more awesome if they were doing them as 5 POA throwbacks and then augmented with some new characters, or completing some originally incomplete turtle sets with a Donnie here or a Raph there... Since they're not doing that they're just going to run down the line until it runs out of steam, methinks.

I'm looking to Bucky O'Hare as the example of how they launch with a good nostalgia hit run and then somehow fumble it to where nobody really cares anymore...

What they should do is release the ReAction line as four packs for $25 msrp. That could absolutely be done with economies of scale, they'd sell like crazy. $24.99 for four packs of ReAction figures. On cardboard backers with a single mold bubble affixing the figs to the cards.

Not only would that be the appropriate nostalgia play, but it would create actual value, create more collectors who would hoard the whole line, and create more casual buyers who see a "set" and go, "oh geeze that's neat". They'd also, arguably make up for any claimed loss at this price by an increased market share and probably increased market penetration by more stores carrying them.

ReAction 4-packs at $24.99. I absolutely believe that could be done and be a win-win for the sellers and buyers. Maybe even $23.99.

Regarding ReAction, hell, even hero/villain 2 packs for $14.99-19.99. I'd consider that fair.

Shredder + Leo
Krang + Don
Bebop + Raph
Rocksteady + Mike
Splinter + Foot (or maybe Foot 2 packs for army building)
April + Casey (k not hero/villain but hero/antihero?)

But now you and I are wishful thinking.

If you are talking about Bossfight's new Bucky line I don't think it is that nobody cares. We just waiting on the new figures to come in. They don't churn em out like some companies.

Yeah, ReAction is very much a “quantity over quality” deal, with us only getting four or so characters and then they live on to the next licence.

Sorry, I had a brain fart and thought those were from Super7. My bad.

I think Splinter vs. Krang would fit more. Characters like Baxter might also be usable from there.

Butbutbut...Don's the brain, get it?
And also, let's be honest, Don runs the team. They'd be nowhere without his inventions and analytical thinking. Leo is just the public facing poster boy leader and Don is OK with that. Sort of like Shredder & Krang, lolol.

Got an email saying they added samurai Leo, surfer Mike, battle damaged foot, and Casey Jones to the 3.75 scale. I placed an order for undercover Don in that scale, but I might also be interested in the samurai Leo. I wonder if they'll do the undercover set in the larger scale???
