The Best Ending of all time.

Whether it be a movie, a tv show, a video game, or even a novel, what is your favourite ending scene of all time?

My personal all time favourite is the ending to The Jungle Book (1967). Two friends happily walking off together into the sunset as they have finally done what they wanted to do the entire film. Its a really touching scene and the upbeat music only adds to the awesomeness.

I prefer the ending in live action Jungle Book (2016).

Screw the humans! Mowgli goes to live with Baloo & Bagheera in the forest where they belong.

No pesky human drama in his entire life.

Its hard to beat The Graduate. The ending is easily one of the best of all-time most satisfying endings in film.

Personally I didn't like that Mowgli didn't go back to the Man Village in the remake but I thought that ending it with the Book that started the first film was a really nice touch.

The uncut ending of Little Shop of Horrors is absolutely incredible. I mark it at the point that Audrey was getting ready to run away with Seymour, only to be lured to the shop by the plant.

Except, unlike in the theatrical release, it actually does kill her. She survives long enough to sing a beautiful reprise of Somewhere That's Green in Seymour's arms, and the moment that Seymour delivers her to the plant, as per her last wish, is my absolute favorite moment of cinema. It's heartbreaking, it's cathartic, it's so very different from every other death in the story.

(I can't find a better version though).

Then there's the stuff with the salesman (who I'm pretty sure is in league with the plants as a whole), Mean Green Mother from Outerspace continuing as normal, and Seymour ultimately being killed. Though, I prefer the stage version where he jumps into the plant's mouth with a machete.

AND THEN THERE'S DON'T FEED THE PLANTS, GODDAMN. Granted, the scene goes on a little too long, but the song itself is a headbanger.

This explains my feelings on the ending and how the theatrical one completely trashes the intent of the story and lesson.

I just realized my favorite characters keep getting eaten by green things in an ironic twist of fate for their stories...

This one is still my favorite. Heck, the entire ending from the ceremony to Minas Tirith to this ending is my favorite. When I first saw it, I didn't quite get the impact of it but after I grew up a bit, re-watched the movies, re-read the books, this always gets me. If I were to throw in a little from the book:

'No, Sam. Not yet, anyway, not further than the Havens. Though you too were a Ring-bearer, if only for a little while. Your time may come. Do not be too sad, Sam. You cannot always be torn in two. You will have to be one and whole, for many years. You have so much to enjoy and to be, and to do.'

'But,' said Sam, and tears started in his eyes, 'I thought you were going to enjoy the Shire, too, for years and years, after all you have done.'

'So I thought too, once. But I have been too deeply hurt, Sam. I tried to save the Shire, and it has been saved, but not for me. It must often be so, Sam, when things are in danger: some one has to give them up, lose them, so that others may keep them. But you are my heir: all that I had and might have had I leave to you...'

Hard to pick just one, but I’d say off the top of my head tvwise Buffy the Vampire Slayer and film wise Breakfast Club.

For movies, I would say Return of the Jedi, and Return of the King. The Wizard of Oz had such a sweet ending. I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of them right now. For books? Once again, Return of the King. My God, Tolkien was a master storyteller. A lot of fellow Harry Potter fans may disagree with me, but I liked the ending (including the rather controversial epilogue).

One of my personal favorite endings is the live action Death Note- the original one (s) not the remake. It had such a great twist, that I never saw coming and which was so different from the anime and the manga versions.

Army of Darkness had an "alternate ending" that was pretty great, too. So ironically perfect for that film!

Oh crap, how could I forget the Beauty and the Beast ending?

Much like the Little Shop ending, the soundtrack alone is breathtaking.

Howard Ashman and Alan Menken involved in both so...it's really no coincidence

Do TV movies count?

I feel Ed, Edd n Eddy Big Picture was a great conclusion for the series for the Ed, Edd n Eddy series.

Hey Arnold Jungle movie was another great one, it has its flaws yes but concluded the Hey Arnold series well. Even though I prefer the other Hey Arnold film, every one seems so much more younger in this series for some reason.

Kim Possible two parter was great, though it never really showed us if Ron got into the same college or not as Kim which was his greatest fear to begin with. At least the writers team confirmed they ended up together either way.
