Have you tried contacting him lately? I did, but haven't heard anything back.
Edit: scratch that he emailed back. Hasn't even started yet though....

I might commission him soon. I really like his horror-inspired art style, where even the cute characters have an unnerving bent to them. Guess who I'll commission him to do in his style (hint: it's female and not a TMNT character)?

Nah, I messaged him over the summer and he messaged me back. I just was asking him where he was at with it. I told him no rush, so I'll get it when I get it. I figure he's a busy guy, and just getting him to agree to a commission is worth the wait.

Yeah I get that, I just don't like the fact that he told me will be starting it soon. It's been over a year.

I would be banging my head against the wall if I were waiting on one of these.

I waited 13 months I think, and that was hell. I can't imagine how others must feel at this point.

I also waiting well over a year. I guess I can understand the frustration with waiting, but this is such a rare opportunity to get something directly from Mr. Farley that I really didn't mind. The guy isn't trying to rip you off.

I'm still waiting, and I know I paid sooner rather than later. I know you say he isn't trying to rip anyone off, but damn...it feels like it.

I guess if the expectation going into the commission was that it would take at least a year, then maybe the wait wouldn't be so bad. But I take it that was not the case?

He certainly gave no indication of that. In my case, almost every time I talked to him, I'd get it "soon" or "next week" even though that was only that case after over 13 months had past. I wouldn't have minded if I knew in advance it'd be /that/ long.

Yeah, that's what he says every time or well, when he does answer. It's a "I haven't forgotten." "It'll be soon." He even told me he will be starting it soon and that was like 2 or 3 months ago. I think it's been a year and 7 months..

Yeah, I'm still waiting too. I'm just going to keep being patient. I see where everyone is coming from, but like another poster has said, it's not very often that an opportunity like this pops up.
I think (and maybe Powder will agree), it's better to have an artist get into a commission when he (or she) is feeling it, than have them just rush something out. I guess we'll find out when I we get ours in. I have a commission setup with another TMNT artist that will break the year mark soon. Same thing, I never thought I'd get the chance to get something by them, but I can wait it out. |

I do agree but just the same I think there comes a time when it's just a completely unreasonable wait. If you're not going to be 'in the mood' to hammer out a piece of art for a year or more, you probably shouldn't take commissions until then.
