The "I like to pretend this never existed" thread

You know when fans of a certain property hate a new movie/game/comic/tv series/etc. so much that they'd rather pretend it never existed or they'll say "that one doesn't count!" when people mention it? Well that's what this thread is about.

In my case:

TMNT Bay films: Nuff has been said about this in the proper section already. Also, Venus de Milo from TNM, but nowadays I find it hard to 100% reject or dislike TNM. It didn't really damage the property at the end of the day. History has been rather kind to it since the Bay films came out.

Mario and Zelda CD-i games: Yeah, to me the mere idea of there being crappy Mario and Zelda games is just inconceivable. That being said, I think most Nintendo fans don't consider those games to be actual Mario and Zelda games.

Nintendo's Virtual Boy console It exists, but when discussing Nintendo consoles I just ignore its existence completely.

This is all I can think about for now. Tell me about yours.

I like to pretend that Mewtwo was never cut from Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Its just painful remembering that.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

Things that I like to pretend it never existed include the following:

- The "Sonic The Hedgehog" Movie

- Bad/Mediocre "Sonic" Games ( Sonic Forces, Sonic Boom, Sonic '06, etc. )

- Cherry Coke

- Joss Whedon's Tv Shows/Movies/Comics

- The word, "nimble"

- Momo Yaoyorozu

- The Trolls

That's all I got for now.

I've honestly had forgotten about that when I made the thread. Thanks for reminding me, guys!

In all seriousness now, I agree. Ghostbusters to me are two movies only.

That's hardly the worst TMNT thing ever. Not that it's a great movie by any means, but you honestly think it's worse than the 3rd movie, TNM or the Bay films?

Though if you think about it, that's that exact point that the movies shifted course into suckdom. They never recovered after II. They never even tried.

Wasn't 2007's CGI movie considered good enough by people? I don't recall it being blasted by anyone. The worst thing I've seen people say about ti was "it was a bit boring". It does seem like it's forgotten though. Barely anyone outside of big TMNT fans cared about it, and the general audience at the time didn't even seem to know there was a TMNT cartoon running at the time it came out.

That's kind of the thing -- it didn't really make a splash enough to matter, any which way. It's honestly the best TMNT sequel... but it's not good. It just sort of exists.

Even if it had been a bigger box office success, it would still not have been considered a great movie, I bet.

The 2k3 cartoon was a strange case, tbh. It was obviously popular enough to go for 7 seasons and all, but it feels like once it ended no one remembered it anymore. And to this day, a ton of people still aren't aware of its existence. By the time the CGI tie in movie came out, the show was already in what, its 4th-5th season? Probably wasn't that popular anymore, so maybe that's why the movie was such a blip in the radar compared to other TMNT movies.

Can't think of much off the top of my head... but... definitely Leo's attitude/personality/characterization in the 2007 film and 'Rise' will be a future entry for that same category (possibly for all of them, maybe except Raph), but being that it's the thing that exists right now it's hard to pretend it doesn't. Neither of these will probably ever be canon to me.

edit: Also, if this sort of counts... fandom obsession with incest. For everything, everywhere. Just why.
