On school campuses, sure. Lady Cylons and I both had to hide our knives in the bushes to get into the courthouse... I don't even remember what official documents we needed to deal with.

But it was a long damn walk back to the parking lot, so...

You should see the one where a radio & bike wheel were confiscated as weapons. Oof.

I’m thinking sooner or later these will be banned or perhaps a boycott of Amazon will take place in London. I mean who really needs these. I’m fine most days with a butter knife.

I barely can understand radio, but what you can do with the bike wheel?
Are we went to the Naked Gun universe?

The Brits made the mistake of showing their hand before the riled up people over here were about ready to put crazy stuff on the ballots. Now everyone knows the endgame. Now it can be cited clearly in any "You 2nd amendment people are nutso, there is no slippery slope! We just want a couple of tiny things, for now!" argument. Forevermore. It leads to insane boxes where you need to deposit your screwdriver while walking down the avenue... literally.

Considering this: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...burglar-london

Yeah, people be cray cray, but there is a rational limit, and if that's exceeded, there will be trouble. If you think a screwdriver is nothing special, then click the link above... happened just last week, and the home owner has been released without charge.

As noted, people will sadly always be violent inside. Just without access to guns for the most part, you get more stabbings. True, that's a lesser of two evils scenario here, but still... there were around 215 fatal stabbings in the UK last year. That's still massively dwarfed by just the gun deaths in the US.

Ironically you would probably get into trouble carrying that around in Australia. Our weapons laws differ from state to state, but there are quite a few types of knife that are prohibited here.

And to be fair, aggressively brandishing a screwdriver in America can still get you killed by police:

Well yeah it depends on the situation, there's a difference between the person carrying tools for work or personal DIY and then the police are searching a group of youths for weapons and finding sharp tools, they aren't really going to just take the knives but let the kids with other sharp tools keep those.

Not getting then Bike wheel and radio mentioned a few posts back....

That guy was literally asking them to shoot him.

And yeah. Generally threatening police with weapons is not a good way to remain in the land of the living.

Or things that look like weapons. do what you're told....no matter the skin color you might be alive to complain about your treatment later.

Sad to say, it most likely was a "suicide by cop" decision.

As I'll say again, it's the culture more than "the guns" that are to blame. It certainly says something culturally when American teenagers in high school had the maturity to have gun clubs and carry in schools in the past, to now when London is demanding people to "give up" their knives.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

Not out of reach in London, considering what a joke Sadiq Khan is.
