Don't say that - just don't do!

You've got so many great things over in the US we only dream and wait for over here: Complete DVD Release of the Real ghostbusters Cartoon with massiv Bonusmaterial, several calssic TV-Shows which won't get a DVD Release because there are licensing issues, New TMNT Comicbooks and the list goes on and on...

Just be thankful for what you've got over there because many of us are pretty envy

Not that I know of...believe me, I tried to find it! I'm glad I ordered the DVD though; it has some other cool features and it's interesting to see how foreign audiences view the TMNT film. The German audio sounds SO WEIRD to me! For instance, all the fight scenes have dumb, zany sound effects dubbed in, I suppose to make the fights more humorous and less violent.

Anyway, if you're interested, I put this on my blog:

25 Cool Factoids from the First TMNT Film Director's Commentary

This is by no means a complete list of all the things you can learn from Steve Barron's commentary, but rather a short sampling of what was new or interesting information to me. I would still highly recommend hearing the commentary for yourself; it was really great to hear Steve reminisce about all the challenges and memories he had making the film.

.
Yeah, I noticed those cartooney sound effects while listening a second time to the audio commentary (which is done over the German dub).
Thank God they didn't put those into the original version. It dpoesn't really with the dark and gritty feel of the movie.

I'm still baffled that the audio commentary is still only available on that German edition. I really thought they'd ultimately add it to other releases worldwide.

Anyway, I can sure recommend the audio commentary too! It's just great to hear mr. Barron talk about the Turtles movie.

Well the Soundeffects were added when the Film was released in the UK and several scenes were deleted (for instance scenes which show Mikey using his chucks) the german distributor sadly licensed the UK Version instead the original US one and we got the edited version :/

That's because it was produced for the german DVD Release.
WinklerFilm, the Company which distributes the DVD, asked Barron if he was interested in doing a Comentary for the german DVD Release of the Film, he simply said yes and also provided the "extended Ending" for the DVD Release.

I think we should all lobby Steve Barron for a Director's cut. It could be an extended version with the extra finished scenes and the extended ending (if it's possible to finish that?). And he could give it the soundtrack he originally intended (punk, new wave, etc). How amazing would that be?

(Yeah I know it'll never happen. )

Even if we never get a Director's Cut, I think certainly a US re-release of the original TMNT film (preferably as BluRay+DVD) with ALL the available extras included (Commentary, Extended Scenes, Ending), etc. would sell really well right now, given the anticipation over the upcoming Nick series and 2013 film. Especially if it was packaged nice.

gobo if you do order another batch, hook me up man. For a long time I've mulled over if I really need another copy of the film. I don't, but that's not the point. I really wanna listen to this commentary track.

Oh, man! The movie would have been so much better had they went with the punk/new wave soundtrack.

After doing a bit of digging, I have figured out that the deleted scenes are actually with the nunchakus as the original UK/German release those were banned and not allowed to see, So until further proof has been unearthed I am thinking that this release (with the exception of the special features) is exactly like the american version we all know and love.

Wrong X 2. Only one of the deleted scenes is about the nunchucks. The other is April helping during the fight in her loft, added exclusively into the international edits. Both are in German-only audio though... Also, the uncut version of the film used for the DVD is 3 minutes shorter than the US cut, not counting credits. The extended ending is in English, however, with place-holder voices for some characters.

Which we have the PAL-Speedup to thank, not that anyone thinks that 3 Minutes were cut from the release

Can someone who has this release post the commentary as an .Mp3? It would be cool to listen to it while witching the movie.

Besides, the PAL speed up would screw with the syncing of the movie to the commentary.
