"Agh, just an old oil lamp, hardly worth taking..." On 2nd viewing I saw one of the giant golden sun coins from the original pilot.

Loved the preview episode and it was pretty good for reboot. David Tennant does a good job as Scrooge. And I also saw the lamp and immediately thought of the movie when I did. Definitely will be looking forward to more.

When will the next episode air? Will it always air on Saturdays there? I really plan to keep up with this one. I really really really liked it. The throwbacks and easter eggs are great and I like the fact that we're going to possibly get a storyline regarding Donald's sister. I've never read any of the comics...but I do know of the characters (looked them up long ago lol)...so yeah. It'll be nice to finally have an animated version involving the other members of Donald's family.
I now wonder if Daisy will appear in this series at some point. The boys' father is Daisy's brother, isn't it? |

September.
From what I understand, the first pilot premiere is "tv movie like" with 40+ minutes airtime but after this it'll be the usual 20 mins for each episode. |

Yep, September 23 is when it will officially debut and that's cool with me. I'm going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

The premiere was an excellent way to begin the series. It might take some time for me to get used to Huey, Dewey, and Louie with different sounding voices, but their actors really did bring plenty of personality to the characters. The adventure elements are still there and I'm sure that today's younger audiences who were not able to see the original show will enjoy this. If I were to critique something, then it would be that Donald's dialogue did sound confusing in a few scenes. I've seen cartoons where I actually can understand what he's saying, but I did have to rewind a few times in the episode.

I love the art-style and hope the show is successful.
Sadly I just have no interest of watching this on my own. If I had kids however I would love to watch it with them. Anyone feel like that with some things? |

Never had problems understanding him before. They need to tone down the duck effect a bit.

Yeah, Donald has been like that a lot lately. It seems like he's garbled a lot of the time and that makes it grating when he talks. Original Donald was never that hard to understand.

I like that the show has mysteries to keep the audience engaged. What happened to the nephews' parents? Why Donald is their guardian? What's the beef between Donald and Scrooge? Who's that woman next to Scrooge in the portrait at the dining room - his wife??? Scrooge had a wife?? (He had no wife in other versions like Ducktales, A Christmas Carol, comics etc).
Sounds like you have a pop-children-or-adopt-them syndrome. |

They need to really lower the pitch of his voice. He would probably be easier to understand that way. Even though I didn't have too much trouble, I did have to concentrate more whenever he spoke.

Considering it's the same actor that's been portraying him for like 30 years, something is weird.

I wonder if they are asking for more "acting" from Tony Anselmo. Not to say he's not up to it, but Donald Duck speech is hard to inflect with. I wanna say Tony said that Clarence "Ducky" Nash told him there are words you just can't say as Donald without them sounding garbled. Maybe it's a combination of dialogue not being able to be spoken as Donald and asking the actor to inflect through the "voice".
http://cartoonresearch.com/index.php...s-donald-duck/ Article about Ducky Nash, and the Donald "stunt voice."

i enjoyed it more than i thought i would.
the animation looks a bit better in movement than it does in stills.. but still not my favorite style. The kids voices still suck. they all sound WAY too old. They turned the female characters into crazed action heroes and body builders. not sure how i feel about that one. one of the kids (duey?) seems like a future criminal hotwiring stuff... that goes a bit beyond mischief. oy. but the story itself felt right at least. is that the same donald as the original series guy? you're not really SUPPOSED to understand donald in everything he says. i think that's kind of the joke that got lost over time. 'what's that duck saying?' |
