So I bought three VHS tapes of the FW series for 10 euros today.
Found them for sale on Facebook and bought them.
Sadly they were the Dutch Dub but hey at least back then the dubbing company knew what they were doing. (I couldn't get into the 2003 series because of the dub with that series being so TERRIBLE that they make the Michael Bay Turtles movies look good. And it was impossible to get DVD's of that series in English) So which episodes are on there? - Turtles on Trial - Case of the Hot Kimono - The Gang's all here Yup, just THREE episodes of the third season. So no Punk Frogs even though they're on the cover. But, they happen to be the episodes that I really wanted to see, certainly in the case of "The Gang's all here" since it deals with the same theme I have in my ongoing fan comic "The Full 80%" 10 Euros is a lot of money for only three episodes but as far as I'm concerned, it was money well spent since those VHS tapes contained some of the best of the third season.

Well, at least the artworks on the covers are great. You could pull them off and frame them.

VHS and exclusive ones can be worth something on the secondary market if you are interested in flipping the VHS you obtained.

Yeah, shows how much the publishing company cared.

We had the same problems here in Northern Europe, with Danish company Scanbox Entertainment disturbing Fred Wolf TMNT to video in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Some artworks and even titles were totally messed up.

Even as someone speaking foreign languages, I could never imagine watching the FW series in anything but English because the voice performances from the likes of Cam Clarke, Pat Fraley, Rob Paulsen, James Avery and Townsend Coleman are just too iconic to overlook.
Not to mention that you are watching the Dub dutch, so there might be censorship of Mikey's Nunchucks here and there.

Of course, but if you were a child in a non-English speaking country during the early 1990's, you would probably not be aware of them. |

True. In a lot of European countries viewers are not exposed to non-dubbed products, everything is broadcasted in a dubbed version. Before the internet the only way you could watch a movie with original english audio was to take a flight to UK.

In the 80s? None of that here in Italy. I guess the only english-dubbed products you could find were the videogames but they started to have voice acting only in early 90s. In fact, I can vividly remember the first time I've ever heard an english voice in my life: it was my brother playing the graphic adventure game Day of the Tentacle in 1994

You wouldn't be able to provide scans/photographs of the backs of the covers (and potentially a translation if there is any text), as I would be very interested in seeing them?

Here what they say. Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles Guilty or Innocent. And the back cover says. - Even though the turtles have been consistently heroic, the universal distrust in anything different gave them a bad name with the general public. So the guys, in an effort to save their reputation agree to appear on live TV. But a Ninja isn't an Ivo Ninja. Notes: "Ivo Ninja" is a reference to the host Ivo Niehe who was the Netherlands' premier talk show host at the time. That's a joke nobody who's not dutch and lived through the eighties would have gotten. Turtles Action Doublepack Two video tapes for the price of one. The Kimono Gang Oh the humanity, it's all for the beasts And on the back cover Tape 1 - The Kimono Gang It's no secret to the Turtles that crime lords try to enrich themselves in all sorts of illegal manners. But when a certain character by the name of "Don Tortelli" engages in the activity of stealing every kimono in the city (In order to build up a Kimono empire) it even has our heroes surprised Tape 2 - Oh the humanity, it's all for the beasts It's easy to forget that all the animals in this series are actually mutated human beings who are otherwise just "perfectly normal". Leave it to Shredder and Krang to refresh your memory. Notes: - Don Tortelli wasn't out to create a Kimono empire, he was looking for the treasure map sewn into Splinter's kimono. - Nope the Turtles were never even human to begin with.

TMNT and Niehe's Talk show were both broadcasted on the same network in those days, so kids were familiar with Niehe.
