Wasn't there a Marvel press release saying they were taking, at least, a two year breakf from "Events" after Secret Wars?

I think they meant line-wide events, not events specifically designed for certain franchises like this one is.

Well, is MJ being involved mean that she'll actually be taking a vacation from the RYV series to appear in another event or is it just referring to the upcoming RYV story connecting to Venom-verse somehow?

Even if it's the former, there are ways that it could be handled without hijacking the main series (like it being written to be extra optional reading, the comics being written so that it takes place between the regular RYV issues instead of concurrent with them, etc.)

(I will agree though that I'm not sure I really want RYV feeding into an event just yet, but there's a chance that it won't suffer for it.)

I sort of think this is why Conway is not writing RYV in August, he'll be writing the RYV story for one of the Venomverse tie-in comics while Stegman's issue is what Peter and Annie get up in the meantime back on their homeworld

Maybe. I'll have to keep my ears open about the Venom-verse solicits to see if that happens.

Stegman's issue actually seems to be an origin story for Normie Osborn, but it could be very well designed as a way to do a story that will allow Venom-verse to "interrupt" the series without causing reading problems.

The VenoMJ arc got off to a reasonable, if slightly rushed, start. MJ's reasons for donning the suit made sense, and I like that we got some insight into how she views her character flaws, believing that she empties the tank in the relationship and Peter has to fill it up. I wonder if something will come out of the ''take a break'' suggestion from her friend, with her taking time away from her family to participate in Venomverse?

Peter still has a very black-and-white view of good and evil that will no doubt be challenged when he discovers what the fate of those men at sea were who were attacked by MJ. MJ is a mental prisoner of the symbiote, so it will be interesting how she tries to reconcile with it over the coming months, as well as hope that Peter does'nt find ways to resent her one morning, as there's an even more believable reason for that now than there ever was.

I liked the first piece of the Venom story. I was a little worried about how getting MJ with the suit would work, but I think it felt organic to the story and not "do it because the plot demands it."

It did feel on the rushed side, so I hope that the second half works and doesn't abruptly end to fit a longer story into two issues, like the X-Men one did.

Apparently last month's RYV issue didn't crack the top 100 comics for preorders.

A lot of speculation about this on the CBR forums on what happened and what that might mean for the future of the series.

Plenty of pro-OMD/Dan Slott users expressing the opinion that this probably means that married Spider-Man is not viable for an ongoing series.

Suppose we'll have to see what happens down the road (the issue did outsell Spider-Gwen a bit apparently, if one doesn't count the latter's being double-shipped.)

On the other hand, the Comicron estimates indicate the sales aren't as drastically bad as the lack of placement in the top one hundred indicates. It wasn't that far down actually, it was only two numbers below one hundred in the chart. If it weren't for new number ones filling up certain spots, it'd have been higher in my estimation.

It also wasn't a healthy month for any of the Spider-Titles. Once again, Slott's ASM didn't even crack the top twenty, and the book is now selling at it's worst rate since the launch after Superior.

Those pro-OMD fans are of course being selective with their bias...when the original Renew Your Vows series came out, it was marketed and hyped as ''meaning something'', prioritized as THE essential Spider-Man book of the summer, and had the A-list writer of the current book penning the tale, and the result was the biggest success story of Secret Wars

Lots of Renew Your Vows news today

The September solicitation reveals that they are tying up the current plot threads, with Normie Osborn's big master-plan revealed as a Mecha-Goblin, MJ is back to being Spinerett, and Ryan Stegman is again credited as the sole writer. Art chores are now by Bryan Level.

Level also confirmed that a twelfth issue will follow in October with him on art duties, which means Renew Your Vows has made it to a full year of publication thus far.

Glad to hear it! Hope it continues, since this series may be my only hope of seeing the "REAL" Spidey that I've come to know and love. I haven't picked up any of the series yet but it is on my list of "must reads". Might have to start getting the trades since I'm in a dry spell comic-wise while I wait for the next IDW TMNT trades to come out. (I don't do preorders as I never know from one month to the next if I might need to cancel an order due to needing the funds elsewhere.)

I did see that it was a couple spots down after my previous post. Yea?

First I've heard of it.

Well, the mini also didn't have to compete with ASM (kind of forcing a "real" vs "non-canon" situation, so to speak). There are differences between the mini and the ongoing as well. So, I think it's fair to say that just because the mini sold well doesn't mean by default that the ongoing will also sell well.

On the other hand, I don't think the ongoing has gotten much publicity in comparison to the mini, which goodness knows how that changes stuff.

Really hope that just means that they're just wrapping up the story and not the series is being canceled.

Wonder if Conway is leaving the series or is just on hiatus.

Not counting the trade for the original mini, the first RYV ongoing trade paperback is coming out June 27 and will have Issues #1 -5. Vol. 2 is set for December 12 and contains Issue #6 - 10. (They're sixteen bucks cover price but you can pre-order for around ten on Amazon.)

I'm worried that this may be it too, as there's currently speculation that Marvel want to launch a new Spider-Man title by Nick Spencer. If that comes true, then it's possible RYV ties up in October and the new title takes it's spot the following month in November.

Well, there's no concrete info one way or the other and we'll find out soon enough when the solicits catch up (they're always several months in advance). No point in worrying over something we don't even know will happen and don't have any control over.

in what I hope is a reversal of fortunes, The Venomized MJ saga kick-off sold out in stores and will go to a second printing. Other sell-outs going to second printings include Darth Vader, Old Man Logan, The Defenders, Weapon X, and X-Men Blue and Gold

Stegman shared some new art on his Twitter...looks like MJ is still in her Venom suit, and you can spot the Mecha-Goblin behind her, so this might be the cover to Issue Twelve. In Spidey's half, you can make out Normie.

Since MJ is in her Spinerette costume in Issue Eleven's cover, it's possible she hasn't told Peter and Annie about her symbiote and still goes out on patrol with them in her costume, and this battle forces her to use the symbiote in front of them

Nice cover. Wonder if they really are going to have the character be older in the stories, or if it's just a cover thing for the sake of the design?

Three possibilites

-Pointless variant [a lot of the other Legacy covers seem to be this too]
-The title is tying up loose ends, this is the final issue, and it's a flash-forward
-The title is undergoing a time skip and we'll see an older, more experianced Spider-Family.
