What I'm surprised about is this mini is getting 6 issues, the first one was only 3 issues. This story has enough content to fill 6 issues? I wonder why they didn't just do another 3.

Are comics really $4.99 an issue now? For like 20 pages? Yeesh. I wouldn't pay that, especially now.

I think the average price might be $3.99 per issue, which still feels insane, but IDW can be inconsistent about charging an extra dollar for special issues or minis. Maybe the logic is that folks are more willing to fork over the extra buck if they don't have to commit to a monthly ongoing?

I think the higher price is the only way they can make a profit off these mini-series to keep them going, otherwise it'd just be the main ongoing. Remember TMNT Universe ended early at issue 25 for this very reason, it was a pricey book and sales couldn't sustain it.

I remember in the late 90s and 2000 you would have 48 page, ad-free prestige format comics with softcovers. Those would be $4.99.

It's a shame that video game pricing didn't follow the rate of inflation (all things considered, a new video game costs considerable less now than it did back in the 1990s), but comic book pricing went nuts with it.

It's true. I remember, for example, seeing Chrono Trigger in the store for $79.99.

a shame? i think the avg nerd would disagree. besides from a certain point of view they did increase, microtransactions. imagine if they would have been able to pull that off back then ljn would have caused nintendo to tank like e.t . did to the atari in the 80's. i mean the only series i can think of that came out with multiple editions is street fighter.

Does it work the same way as Superboy Prime punching a wall?

Technically, they're not obligated to say whether or not it was "Fan Demand", or "Editorial/Creative Demand".
I mean... it doesn't take a genius to guess which one it really was, but... if they keep it vague enough they're still technically telling the truth!

It's possible, but we'll need to see what the new mini's story is to see where it fits in. Volume 14 is a couple of years away still anyway.

Between trying to build more depth to the character and using this as a platform for "Tales from Mutant Town", I really don't have an issue with this. The first series was a fun read. A little chaotic, but fun, and important to the character's development beyond being a former foot soldier.
I'm interested to see where they take the seriws and character, but with the new miniseries, I also hope this means the main series is going to be getting into more TMNT-esque story arcs now. |

Fair point, but it doesn't change the crux of my point: wildly different origin compared to the four OG Turtles, AND she was raised human for most of her existence. NOT mutant.

Comics getting this expensive is why people wait for trades! I admit I'm not exactly eager to read 6 more issues priced at $5 each....that's going to come out to over $30 for this Jennika mini.
Might as well wait for a trade. |

Yeah, I think I would actually rather spend five dollars and get a whole pack of toilet paper rather than just waste it on this one issue which will be used for the same purpose.
When they finally get rid of the character, maybe I?ll decide to pick up some of the stories again. |

I think that's irrelevant. If we are to accept reincarnation as a real thing, maybe in a previous life you were a rottweiler. That doesn't make you a rottweiler now, not at all.
