We know there were only 1k of issues 29-32 produced, but is there a list of how many of each of the other issues in vol 4 were produced?

You can search the numbers here:

The numbers don't vary that much. An example from August 2005:

TMNT Vol. 4 #23 - 3,658

That's not a 100% look at the print run, just what Diamond sold that month, but it'll give you a rough idea.

I don't get it. With the last 4 Vol. 4 issues 29-32 going the direct mail order way from Mirage and yet #23 has over 3600 orders. So why come to the rash conclusion to shut the doors as a publisher almost? Was it that bad by #28's numbers? I recall Peter Laird saying it hadn't been profitable in years, probably since the first two issues of Vol. 4. But to shut down and go to 1000 copies? I know he was resenting Diamond Comics as well, restrictions or minimal numbers, solicitation deadlines to be given, etc. Maybe there'd be more copies out there of those 4 issues if Mirage didn't cave in shutting the door only for that series. Peter also took the time off to focus on the 2007 film back then. Yet Tales of TMNT Vol. 2 they kept it going, running dry as a publication effort (not mocking the title). The numbers were pretty bad on that title too. Just seems all Peter's way of doing things. Not really complaining since I have all the issues. Just not sure I get Peter's decisions.

Ya it seems it was dropping about 100 copies per issue at this point.

then he drops it by 2k roughly when he direct publishes it. At $10 a pop, I wonder if those last four issues were profitable.

I think it's really weird too that issues that had a 3k print run are going for more than issues with a 1k print run on the after market.

With that cliffhanger in 31 and 32, I really hope he starts caring again and at least finishes the arch.

I wonder if his lack of interest is due to the letters pages and their rough criticism or if it was something else. Either way, I love vol 4 the best. I like Jims art (he has done the art for more issues than Peter or Kevin ever did) and Peter is one of my favorite writers.
