Well... there's also TMNTerminator... the self proclaimed "Hero of Tuesday." *checks calender* Dangit, it's only Thursday. Anyhoo, I figured I'd just post some more character artwork that I cropped and resized: Bugman! Err... I mean... Fang! (I tried to darken the lines, but it's really hard to see what this sketch looked like) Spyder and Nano-Spyder (enhanced for a "Boss Fight" perhaps?)

Bugman actually fits the Talbot/Lawson naming thing, as Bugman was Michael Dooney's nickname! At least, that's what the Mirage guys called him.

EDIT: Can you imagine if Eastman had ever attempted to get the Mirage crew cast as cybernetic villains in a TMNT movie? Holy cow...

I wonder if we'll ever see the Dooney designs. Dan Berger once told me about the "ton" of bio-mechanical designs Michael Dooney was paid to draw up for this movie.

Guys, I am going to bid with the intention of sharing the info with the community. If there are others on here also bidding please let me know so we don't start an unecessary bidding war against each other.

So...
Is anybody on these boards $700 poorer? Honestly, I'm surprised it went for less than a grand.

Sorry guys, I wasn't able to get it. Bidding ended at $700. I bid $650. But the end amount is really more than $700 because there is a buyer's fee and sales tax. Had I gone up to 750 it would have been 950 after tax and fees.
There IS still hope however. We could try to get in contact with the winner. Let's hope! There is also the live auction which starts tomorrow. Not sure how to do that though |

It is my intention to simply scan these treasures and then re-sell, as I'm not a collector or hoarder. So I do believe I can re-coup most the costs if I re-bid. Would you guys be at all interested in contributing to the effort? Like I said before, I've already reached my max that I can justify, but I think that if we pooled something together we might be able to still snag this. Another option is simply to wait till the auction ends tomorrow and then make the winner some kind of offer.

Also... I can't believe what the "First Ever Drawing" went for: http://comics.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=7059&lotNo=92357 Truth be told, I'd much rather own Eastman's collection of scripts and/or 4th movie concept art than the "original" picture of the TMNTs (a couple of different turtle drawings preceeded this one as far as I know, but I guess the auction was for the first-ever "group" art of the bunch).

Looks like bidding on all the Eastman stuff has finally closed for good. Anybody know how much it went for? The site now appears to be requiring sign-in to view the details.

It went for $1,600 to a live bidder, which means I think it sold to someone who was at the auction in Dallas in person. So it's probably in the hands of a rich collector now, not necessarily a TMNT fan.
But since I bid on it, I think I may have the option of contacting the winner to make an offer. Hopefully I could talk them into simply taking some photos so we could read some of these gems. I would have really liked to read Eastman's notes on TMNT II, as I think that was the only piece in the auction that was unique and at risk of being lost. The other scripts I'm sure Laird has copies of. Another idea would be to offer Laird a couple hundred to release his movie files, which he said on his blog are stored on his computer drive. I'm pretty sure he has the Herbeck treatment on the computer, so I wonder how much trouble it would be to email someone that? Especially if I made it worth his while. |

Not sure how I missed that the scripts for the 4th film went to auction! Can't really judge if it would have been any good but at least it would have been very creative!

Its a shame these people don't have a heart to at least show a couple pages of the script to see what it would have been all about. With the sketches, it appeared they were trying for more of a Fred Wolf-style concept with these mutants. Its unfortunate that the franchises' decline led to the cancellation, plus it could have had improved special effects with the new technology of the mid-90s coming in. It would have been even better if it also doubled as Fred Wolf's series finale since Shredder could have still been stranded in Dimension X and the final episode would have just aired if the Christmas 1996 release (or if released pre-Next Mutation) occurred. Instead we got that 2007 CGI orphan.

Know what would have been nice? Instead of a movie about japanese lords no one cares about, Interdimensional turtles, or the TMNT becoming X-Men, they made movies with Stockman, or Rat King, or ANYTHING we would have actually cared about back in the day.
