If there was 100% proof positive of collusion, wouldn't that kickstart an impeachment? Whether the base shrugs it off or not seems irrelevant if that was the case... he'd be on trial regardless.

To be clear, Nixon was not impeached but resigned because he knew his goose was cooked. Trump is kind of a whacko and seems to be a little out of touch with reality. A trial would also give him a fugjillion opportunities to tweet WITCH HUNT, which he couldn't resist.

I know, but the articles of impeachment were drawn. He was going to be impeached. He resigned to save as much face as possible. Trump's ego won't allow him to resign.

And the D's outnumbered the R's by a pretty large margin in both House and Senste, which isn't the case now. He didn't stand a chance.

Most of us weren't even born when Dick Nixon was in office. I guess not much has changed in politics.

The more things change the more they stay the same, they say.

Trump definitely is not a cookie cutter politician. It would be interesting to see personality tests completed by the last dozen presidents or so. I think they might have more similar characteristics than different. I mean don't the same occupations generally attract the same types. Just saying we don't see a lot of Albert Einstein or Mother Teresa types in office.

Pray any fines? Hmm, I don't recall any divine mandates for that, but who knows?
Edit: Sorry Plastron but that typo was too good a target to pass up lol!

Can someone explain to me what the "torys" are in the UK? I frequently see them referred to online by people angry that they're "messing up" this or that, but I've never bothered to look into who or what they are or are about.

Yes, Tories, aka the Conservative party. They sit on the political left/right spectrum roughly where the Democrats sit in the US. Newsflash for everyone calling the Democrats liberals, socialists et al, you're wrong. The Democratic party is a right wing party. Both major US political parties are right wing, just the Republicans are even further to the right than them. Whereas we have the Labour party, which has been traditional just left of centre, but has moved about of the years, especially when Tony Blair was in power. And the Lib Dems who sits somewhere in the middle, but also fluctuate.
You can pretty much guess where the BNP and UKIP parties sit, yep, about where the Republicans do heh.

The mainstream media and political analysts are out of touch, that is one thing Trump has nailed and been able to use to his advantage to win people over. This is the lesson no one has wanted to learn from in the last elections. I read enough Trump stories last election to realize this.
Not only do I not think he'll leave office early but if the political climate doesn't change now and there seems to be no signs pointing that it will then he will win again. I'd like to be wrong but sometimes people do get the government that they deserve. |
