I don't remember hearing this; but ok. I'll take your word.

I remember hearing about the blood squirt. I forget where, though. But as a kid I accepted Shredder's survival somehow. Then again, I guess I am sort of used to villains facing horribly gruesome, yet deserved fates only to comeback somehow with little to no explanation.

I remember seeing an article about a year or so back that reported someone having survived an experience in a garbage truck. My immediate thought on reading it was, "So Shredder could've survived!"

And looking back on it as an adult, it's a ****ing dark way to die for being a family film. Not even the comic Shredder's demise was that intense. He's taken out by a grenade out-of-frame.

But we're not talking about the fall.... we're talking about him being compacted, alongside regular trash or foam peanuts, he's still getting crushed.

I do agree, he was meant to die for good, but then here comes a sequel, so he survived... because reasons!

Yeah, it was a dark way to end the film, but hey, it's the same film where one of the Turtles was beaten to near death and thrown through the ceiling and then spent some time in a coma. Stuff that would never have happened in the cartoons.

I remember as a kid seeing the Raph beat down, then Shredder telling Splinter that he 'will hang there... until you die!', I already knew this a whole new different flavor of Ninja Turtles and way more serious than the cartoon. The Foot wasn't a cakewalk and have incompetent mutants, they were actually a threat and the Turtles were actually facing a dangerous murderous Shredder this time.

I was also talking about the compactor. The foam peanuts could have insulated him and kept him from being crushed.
