How does it relate to Star Wars? I read in the Ultimate Collection Peter and Kevin made it because they liked Star Wars, but I don't see many parallels beyond there being space war.

... OK, as I'm writing this, I just got it. There's a robot carrying the blueprints of a WMD in both, the Fugitoid is basically R2-D2 and C-3PO rolled into one.

There's also the alien bar they first step foot in which Peter flat out said he put in the comic to copy the Star Wars scene.

Complete with Han Solo and Chewie look-alikes on the 4kids show.

There's also the Polarasoid's episodes where they trapped the Turtles and other people inside a camera. Is that a parody of some old 50's-80's movie too, where people are trapped in film? I think there was a Twilight Zone episode about something similar.

Man, nearly every episode of the OT was probably a homage or parody come to think of it. Not to mention the plots where the Earth was getting pulled toward the sun or freezing.

I'd love to know what film or TV episode that episode was based off.

I'm amazed what was old back in the 80s suddenly became new to kids my age. Unless you watched 50s/60s sci-fi/horror movies you wouldn't even be aware they were referencing anything.

1. The Pizza Monsters are based on the Alien franchise. Both the way they look and how their early forms start off small and tiny and then grow huge.

2. Rex-1 was based on Robocop, an obvious reference of a robot police cop.

3. "Rondo In New York" from Season 4 is based on Rambo/Sylvester Stallone. The movie actor who becomes real jumping out of the cinema.

4. There was a king kong parody in the episode with the giant ape and Donatello gets huge to fight him, the ape even carries April up a building.

5. Many of the mobsters in the original cartoon are based on popular gangster or mob movies.

6. In Season 6 the robot terminator who is sent to kill Kerma resembles the Terminator franchise.

7. Maac the robot from the future in Season 3 is also vaguely based on Terminator.

8. The Neutrinos starmobiles might be based on Back to the Future.

9. There was a lot of Star Wars influence in general with the Technodrome being similar to the Death Star, dimension x aliens, the laser guns, etc.

Any others?
Star Wars and Alien are from the 70's.

They are also 80's franchsies because many of their sequels are during that era.

Which gangster movie is "The Maltease Hamster" a parody of? Seems like some sort of old police detective or gangster movie from the 30's-40's.

The Maltese Falcon mainly. It's a pastiche on the whole genre though.
