Love Sonic so him finally getting a legitimate movie in live-action is exactly what I wanted. I don't care what people think about live-action/cgi hybrids.
Extremely unlikely they'd adapt SatAM/Comics but the Sonic universe already has enough characters in the video games alone to make a movie out of. I'm assuming Sonic and friends will visit earth. Highly doubt they'd show Mobius or a "home" planet unless it's briefly through space or a flashback. Lol at people comparing that fan project to this. It wasn't even an hour. It was ok for a concept but it wasn't supposed to be a serious movie.

Sonic the Hedgehog and Chris Pine reluctantly team up to stop either Kevin James or Mike Myers from taking over New York City or San Francisco. Cue Who Let the Dogs Out... Summer 2018.

I really digged Sonic Unleashed's style as it had humans but in a Pixar/Dreamworks quality. If "The Night of the Werehog" short was anything to by, an all CGI movie would have been the best way to go. Ratchet and Clank should have 'showned them the light' of how to do a movie based on a beloved property.
Some would think it is not so much the format that would ruin the film but the story. Well as long as the visuals don’t suck. Even if Sonic is CGI, he still needs to run around a world that is full of landscapes and civilization just like always. Whether it’s CGI, if there are humans in his world, they will be there physically or animated just like all the buildings and clouds. Sonic will be animated like always. As baffling as the idea is, Sega is full of them. And I really do NOT want another attempt at adapting the Sonic Adventure games. If Sonic X was enough to go by, I'd rather have a completely new storyline rather than 'rinse and repeat' a story that we already know. I can already enjoy it in from their original source material. People complain about these kinds of movies but the big difference is Sonic is based on action. Most other live-action/cgi cartoon movies were based on being cute or funny. Alvin and Chipmunks Smurfs Scooby Doo Garfield Yogi Bear Which I don't even hate. I haven't seen all of them and I liked the first 2 chipmunks but they were what they were meant to be...cute and lighthearted. I know people will bring up Tmnt and regardless of personal opinion they are still action movies so even that stayed in its element.

This would've been huge news... in 1993.
I mean the technology wasn't there yet and now it is, but... that's the last time anyone at all would have cared about this. And I could reasonably be called a big Sonic fan. I just don't think it matters anymore.

That's what I read.
And I have no real opinion on this. Sonic is alright, I'm not a huge fan.

Deadpool Director Tim Miller will be the executive producer for Sony's Sonic The Hedgehog Movie.
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hea...ie-sony-942661 I think it makes sense, since he was from Blur Studio, Which produced a lot of high quality CGI for video games, the movie will be a Live Action/CGI hybrid. Last edited by TigerClaw; 10-31-2016 at 06:21 PM. |

This is just.... why? Just make a cool high budget animated movie. Why does everyone insist on making everything live action anymore? Chipmunks, Surfside, now Sonic. Just stop.

Err, sounds like a bad idea. Reminds me of Sonic X.

I wouldn't mind if the movie is an adaption of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Those two games had Sonic and his friends on Earth.
The Sonic X cartoon even adapted those two games. |
